What an improvement on number 3. Laugh out loud hilarious sequel which will impress. The funniest scenes aren't in the trailers, so there's a lot more to enjoy this time around.

The funniest scene however is when Cindy (Anna Faris) talks to the Japanese boy in Japanese.

Anna Faris and Regina Hall are really the glue holding the franchise together.

Lot of cameos from the Scary Movie alumini.

The joke to laugh ratio still needs work though.

I liked it, some of the movies spoofed could have used a little more though, The saw and Grudge and WOTW went the best IMO.

Man Seeing Bill Pullman and Charlie Sheen though really wants me to see a spoof with them in it. I liked it about the same as the 3rd.

SCARY MOVIE 4 - 2/10 (F)
I..I have no words at the moment. What I witnessed on screen couldn't have actually been a SCARY MOVIE film. Even after the average third one, I wouldn't have thought a film in this series could have been as horrible as this was. Do you think someone killing themself because they have a massive erection is funny? If you do, go and see this flick. There was absolutely nothing funny in it. I chuckled once or twice. The only time I chuckled, nobody else even laughed, obviously I was the only one that got the joke ;) The theater was almost all sold out and they too, hardly ever laughed. The first thing is, this fucking movie has so much slap stick humor, it is DISGUSTING. Every thirty seconds something slap-sticky happens. It's completely boring and unfunny to watch. I'm really happy that the audience picked up on this. The second thing, the only reason this series works is because of Anna Faris and Regina Hall..they are WASTED in this movie. Anna Faris is in a little less than half of the movie and Regina Hall doesn't show up to the end. This is just a horrible, unfunny and offensive movie. There was one scene I was shocked they actually made fun of. It was a spoof on George Bush and Michael Moore's 9/11 documentary. I was just absolutely shocked and it recieved no laughs from the audience. Please, SKIP THIS MOVIE! I really hope that there isn't a SCARY MOVIE 5 and if there is, I hope it doesn't have Anna or Regina, then I won't even think of seeing it in theaters.

B-

It's the best sequel in the series, and much more consistent than Scary Movie 3.

Terrible, terrible movie. Not the worst in the series (that title belongs to Scary Movie 2) but then again the series should have stopped at the first. Really, films don't get much worse then this. Unfunny, boring, and just plain stupid. A disaster.

I'm with RogueONE and movies35. The film was awful (the amount of dumb slapstick was overkill) and the only funny bits all had to do with Saw references. The WOTW storyline was dull (The Spielberg film itself was a letdown) and The Village spoof was way past its prime (The film was released *way* back in 2004 and wasn't well-liked). The Million Dollar Baby joke is another example of how every joke in this film is rammed into the ground.

The performances were universally horrible. Leslie Nielsen was just plain awful as the President. Will Ferrell does a much better impression of Bush, since it was so obvious they were making fun of him. Anna Faris embarasses herself with a character that gets dumber by the minute it seems. At least in the prior films she wasn't a complete imbecile. Regina Hall has always been annoying but here she reaches a new plateau of annoyance. Ditto for Anthony Anderson. Craig Bierko was bland and unfunny as the Tom Cruise lookalike.

The franchise should definitely end as it has run its course. The Grudge was an awful horror film so making fun of it without ridiculing it just isn't funny.

3.5/10 (D-)

I, for one, love the scary movie series, and would love ntohing more to see the wayans return for the fifth [and anna/hall get a big payday] but this scary movie had a lot of potential with funny spoofs in its first half, but it completely squandered it with Zuckers tired, 1980s humour in its second half.

I liked it quite a bit. It spoofed too much of Waro of the Worlds and Grudge, but that Million Dollar Baby spoof was about the funniest thing I have seen since the Uncle Fucker song in South Park. I was literally in tears laughing so hard!

Funniest scene in any film in 7 years. I cried and my gut hurt. I would see it again just for that scene. :hahaha:

The Oprah gag at the end and the opening gag with SAW sucked too. Like I love Debra Wilson but the whole thing with Oprah went on about 1 minute longer than It needed to. The sketch itself was only like 2 minutes 40 or something.

The best bits:
The bit where Cindy described cleaning the old lady to Tom with the music playing over her hand actions
The bit where Cindy asks what an Assclown is.
The bit where Cindy tells him about her first former marriage
The Brokeback Spoof
The bit where Chris Elliot says grace "Penis Vagina"
When the Yoko character is in the office and is missing her bottom jaw and cindy walks in and freaks out
When Cindy cleans the old lady with urine
When Brenda first appears.
The bit when charlie sheen takes viagra

SCARY MOVIE 4

Where: Harkins Theatre OKC
When: 041406 / 2210
Size/Occ: 550 / 20%

Trailers:
Poseidon Adventure - film still looks stupid
Pulse - I liked the original and this trailer gives AWAY everything, but I'll still see it
Clerks 2 - 2nd most pointless sequel of the year behind the reviewed one

Film: short and sweet, but I'm sorry I spent my money to see this film, but Thank for Smoking had started 20 minutes earlier and I hate going into films that have already begun. Anywho, this film I think did the worst job of all the SMs of trying to blend a film parody with all the parodies into one main story. Instead, they tried to blend Village and WOTW and it didn't work. The only true funny bit was the BBM skit. The actor who played Cruise's character in WOTW was ugly as hell and that probably played a roll in it not working. I feel sorry for Anna Faris for doing this film because she's normally funny when she does comedy but this stuff wasn't funny at all. The whole Japanese brand name dropping pretending to speak japanese bit was pretty weak and almost "offensive" in a way. The last bit with the "cruise" character visiting Oprah was totally unfunny as well and that was supposed to be a laugh out loud scene. OH well, most of this film is cricket worthy and I'm certain this drops 60-70% next weekend because it's lame and sucks and audiences who see it will know to warn everyone else to not see it. The best SM is still the first one because it actually had a story being parodied with all the skits whereas the last two have been mini skits edited together to try to form some seblence of continuity and story and it just doesn't work. Lastly, poor Leslie Nielsen. His jokes fall flat and his face appears so rubbery and then the whole naked bit was just awful.

Grade F

In reference to the MDB parody.

That's a pretty big statement and your opinion obviously has more weight than the casual rinky dink poster but even you can't be serious about that statement. The list that would top this scene would prolly never end. Just to name a couple from truly funny films:

Vince Vaughan getting his crotch massaged at the dinner table in WC
Jim Carey trying to explain his case to the opposing attorney in LL

funniest scene in ANY film in SEVEN years?? :bang:

Believe me, if this was Zucker's older style of spoof it would have been one of the best spoofs ever. I really hope they try and flesh out a a more coherent plot next time. I mean, why was Michael Madsen even there, I thought he was funny but absolutely no point at all. I would say the biggest problem is that Scary movie is known for awesome openers, and Shak and Dr. Phil really just can't act. It sounded funny, but it was poorly executed by there horrible acting skills.

There is no hope for Zucker and Parodies ever again. It's clear to me hes the worst part of the two latest scary movie films, and his style is so constrictive and so "The grown ups view of what kids want to laugh at today" that he really just ruins the films.

He should have retired after his peak.

McG might be pretty good to take over, he gets the teen humour scene like the Wayans.

I guess thats while we'll always differ. If the wayans didn't make such a horrible film in the 2nd one than they would still be involved. The restricted their audience way too much and Zucker broaded it to an much larger audience, the last two films are arguably much much better jokewise and quality wise.

I completely agree, if the Wayans were involved with the 3rd movie I for one would have not even considered seeing it. That's how awful I thought #2 was.

As for this one, I think it's perhaps a small notch below #3 and #1 but still way better than #2. Pretty par for the course, nothing great, nothing groundbreaking, nothing unexpected but still a decent time at the movies. I do agree that David Zucker & Leslie Nielsen are past their spoofing prime but they still entertain me enough for it to be passable entertainment. But I've always been a fan of both of them.

and I'm with Baumer in that the Million Dollar Baby spoof was by far the best scene.
