So, is this like 500 Million DOMESTICALLY or WORLDWIDE??? The Poll doesn't really make that clear.. If you think POTC 2 will make 500 Million Domestically, then I'm afraid your going to be disappointed.. Worldwide?? Sure..

I love Pirates 1 and I would love to see this make 500 but I just am sure it wont.
(Now if Superman didn't get scheduled it would be more possible but it still probably wouldn't)

That is a fantastic point. Back To The Future made pretty much on par what POTC did adjusted. And although it was a great film, the sequel abandoned all that made the first so treasured. I too think POTC will fall into this trap. It will open well, of course, but ultimately, I think it might end with about 240-270.

Again, I've gotta reassure everyone that DMC is NOT going to fall into the trap of forgetting everything that made the first movie what it was. In fact, I'd say they're amplifying it. I know pretty much the entire plotline now, and it's gonna be GREAT.

I just read the full ending to the film, and it could be incredibly cool. I can just imagine Jack saying "Pirate..." in a particular way.

It's still basically the same ending as BTTF2 -- but then again, I liked that movie and its ending.

The ending also reminds me of ESB... Betrayal (in a roundabout way) and a popular character is put in mortal danger (but this time it's not quite so hopeful in the end... ). We've actually been talking a LOT about parallels to Star Wars in the Speculations & Spoilers thread over on Keep to the Code (the official PotC fansite).
Hey, Dark Shape, where'd ya read the excerpt? Was it at the original post on IMDb? The guy on there who posted it has been such a great source of hints and clues for our speculations... He never gives us anything concrete, usually hints so that we can figure things out ourselves, but sometimes he'll post a direct quote, and the script excerpt is especially great. It's got all the shippers in a frenzy, LOL.

If it got to $588 m, wouldn't (97.8% of what Titanic did), wouldn't they just push it past it???
