I was the only person in the theater when I went to see it this afternoon. That was probably to be expected since everyone was either still at school or at work. It was nice to have a theater all to myself though.

Anyways, the best thing about the film is that it's funny, and it's heart is in the right place, no matter how sappy the film got, In it's own way, just like Bad News Bears (Old or new), a subtle message of coaches badgering their kids in sports, and kids bullying other kids. The film does get a little too sappy at times when we see a person that Gus had picked on as a kid ("Yoda") and ends up giving a big speech in favor of Gus, but it gets the point across.

I also enjoyed the cameos by various ESPN guys.

The film's lone weak spot (At least for a film like this) is that the humor is a little too over the top at points, and despite the PG-13 rating, is a little too kid friendly. I'm actually kind of surprised that it didn't get away with a PG rating.

I know Rob Schneider has been poisioning to film critcs (Both Deuce movies), but this one should've been screened for critics. I'm sure a few of them would've liked it. Overall, the film is decent, even if we are supposed to believe that Molly Sims is married to Rob Schneider.

Parts of the movie are funny. Way too many funny scenes in the trailer though. The best line had to be the Steroids in Macaroni line. Good stuff there. C

I didnt expect much, but it was much funnier than lets say the animal or dicki roberts. I would say that the trio had very good chemistry together. Showed Spade still had great sarcastic timing and Napolean, I mean Jon Heder, did his earlier schtick to a good extent, and I loved Lovitz as the Billionare, I was cracking up all the time. Its nothing special and the end game got to be blah, but I thought it was one of the funnier films of the year.

Where was the Adam Sandler cameo?

Well, I laughed my ass off. Maybe it was the vicinity I saw it in(out of town) that made me appreciate it more, but I found it to be hilarious. Very slapstick, but great. Heder and Spade were at their best, and there was plenty of fantastic supporting roles from Lovitz, Reggie Jackson, that Carlos guy, Richie's sunlight fearing brother, and so on.

Only two criticisms: a) Schnieder had 0 laughs, though it's not his fault as it was more in the writing, Gus as a character was just not comedic whatsoever. Reggie Jackson had more laughs in his 30 seconds of screentime. And b) The last 20 minutes was kind've lame. Normally I can understand the heartfelt ending, but it just didn't work here. Hit the wrong tone.

Anyways, my #1 movie of the year thus far.

It was actually ALOT funnier than I was expecting.

It had a decent story, and a different ending than usual, and that made it all the better.

8.7/10 B+

After the massive swing and a miss that was Grandma's Boy, Nick Swardson (Howie in the movie) and Allen Covert actually surprised me by writing a good movie. Sure, the humor is often over the top and, as Korrgan put it, retarded. But, I found myself laughing, even when I know it was at something really, really dumb. Surprisingly, Rob Schneider is the one normal performance in a movie of anything but normal characters.

Probably the hardest I laughed was when Howie (Swardson) walked out of the house for the first time, looked up at the sun, and screamed like a banshee. Swardson is like a lesser-known version of Will Ferrell. Sure, he's way too over the top, but so is Ferrell. And, Jon Lovitz has a scene or two where he shows off his brilliant comedic ability.

All in all, a good-hearted film with a ton of dumb humor that made me laugh. Grade: B+

Some parts here and there that were funny, but I just did not like this movie at all. I did not find the humor funny at all. C

The first hour was the funniest movie made since Happy Gilmore. However, the laughs do not hold up in the last act, so just an A- instead of being a comedy classic.

One of the stupidest movies I've seen in a long time. Right from the start, I was angry that no other team would intentionally walk Rob Schneider's character... any coach worth a lick would have just intentionally walked him instead of letting him hit homeruns. And then I was having trouble believing that anybody would cheer for these 3 old guys who drop kick a 12 year old in the head to get to home base, practice by playing "mailbox baseball", and were just complete idiots. Also the movie got WAYYYY too sappy at the end.

The only way this could have worked is if these 3 guys organized and trained an entire team of benchwarming kids to go up against the good teams. They did that at the end, but it was a little too late. It was just an incomprehensible mess of a movie with a few very minor chuckles...

My grade: D

I'm kind of mixed on this one. I kind of agree with Tony and I kind of agree with Gun. It really was stupid and they would have walked Schneider eventually but then again, it was funny and I really wasn't expecting much. I just wanted to laugh...and i did.

it was extremely stupid but it made me laugh so hard!

Does Jon Heder plan on acting like a retard in every movie?

The inane stupidity is mildly cute for the first two-thirds, until they pull out that goddamn third act "twist" and it thought it was being thoughtful. Or something. I dunno, Korrgan was right about it being written by retards.

One of the stupidest movies I've ever seen, but I did laugh at times at the sheer slapstick. That said, the ending was not only downright idiotic, but utterly unfunny and killed the film. Given how bad the film was up to that point, that's saying something. It's not a complete failure because of the few laughs, but it's still a terrible attempt at comedy.

I just got down watching it. I feel like head-butting a bullet :-( Overall not very worthwhile. I don't think I laughed at all during the movie. A lot of the dialogue felt forced, and the acting unnatural (I'm looking at you Jon Heder :disgust:).
