KING KONG (2005)
Ok, so in the beginning I thought, "Wow, this is actually interesting and not dull like I heard others say." Then they got on the boat and after awhile with them on the boat it went downhill. It didn't improve much when they got on the island either. The stuff with Ann (Naomi Watts) and Kong were solid though. I was thinking this movie would get around a 7/10 (B-) or 7/10 ( B ) tops, and when I was there was still an hour left I was getting really antsy. But then it got much better with the escape/attack on Kong. It made me cry it was so sad. And from here on out it was pretty great, and then amazing/brilliant when Kong and Ann were reunited. The scene with them sliding on the ice was beautiful and sweet. I continued to be in awe during the absolutely heartbreaking finale, which made me bawl and bawl. I loved the final hour, and the previous two were just "good." A movie hasn't made me cry this much all year.
Peter Jackson seriously needs to learn how to edit his movies. King Kong suffers from being overlong, and the action scenes on the island weren't that thrilling. I also wanted them to murder all of those vicious, annoying freaks on the island that attacked them when they first arrived. The love story between Ann and Kong is where it shines. It was incredibly touching. Romeo and Juliet have nothing on these two!
Because of the last hour I loved this film. But it's just too long and not interesting enough during the first two hours for the last hour to be able to make up for them. It's not LORD OF THE RINGS level boring, definitely not even close to anything like that, but it needed some trimming. It made me glad I didn't see it in theaters because I'd have been really anxious for it to be over and wouldn't have enjoyed it as much.

STAY - 7/10 (B-)
Interesting, but the twist was obvious if you know to expect a twist. It's been done before, quite a few times actually. I really liked Naomi Watts in it though.

The 2002 film is called Infernal Affairs, not "Internal".

Last night:
LITTLE MANHATTAN - 8/10 (A-)
Freakin' ADORABLE! So cute and sweet! I cannot believe Fox fucked this movie over. It could have been a sleeper hit, grossing between 50-100 Million. Ugh! What a joke! Charlie Ray was such a cutie. I loved her! My parents thought this was really cute too. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. It's a real crowd-pleaser. My rating was almost a 9/10 (A-).

Liked it.

Between last night and this morning:
THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA - 6/10 (B-)
As far as me being entertained I'll admit I was and can't recall ever being truly bored, but the movie was just too kiddish for me. It plays it so safe. As soon as the little girl is given the potion to heal any wound or whatever from Santa Claus you just know one of her siblings, most likely one of her brothers, is going to get injured so bad that they could die, except you know they won't because she has this magic potion. It's so silly. No matter what happens you just know everything will turn out fine because it doesn't have the balls for them not to. And maybe that's how it is in the books, but I haven't read them so I don't know. Regardless, whether it be in a book or movie, if it's an adventure it would be nice to actually feel like something bad can happen, but here you know nothing will, and when it does it gets undone. They can't even have the oldest boy, Peter, kill a villainous wolf, and when he does kill one it's because the wolf jumped on his sword. How is this kid going to be a king when he doesn't have the balls to take care of business? The blatantly obvious religious aspect were also annoying and help bring it down. There are moments where it's so in-your-face wink-wink, nudge-nudge about it being religious that it's just cheesy and made me want to roll my eyes.
So basically, it's entertaining enough to watch, but annoying in its silliness. Still, I'll see the sequel(s) on DVD. It's definitely no Harry Potter, which many found to be the kiddie version of Lord of The Rings, but now I'd say Narnia is the kiddie version of Harry Potter, which seems really edgy in comparison. Narnia is a kiddie movie all the way, except for all of the adults that will love it because of the religious aspect of it. I swear they could have named it "The Passion of The Aslan."

Tonight:
WOLF CREEK - 9/10 (A-)
My mom and I watched it and I loved it. I think she liked it at least. She was on the edge of her seat, as was I. The second best horror film of 2005, after HIGH TENSION. It's quite brutal and intense, even shocking at times. At first it was annoying because the accents are incredibly thick and hard to understand. I had the subtitles on but it made me glad I didn't see it in theaters because it would be like, "Ok, I have no idea what they just said." I can imagine a lot of people felt that way, and a lot of people renting it who don't use subtitles will as well. It gets a lot easier to understand what's being said later in the movie though. I have no idea why mainstream audiences hated it so much. I thought it must have some terrible ending, at least one they'd consider terrible, since a lot of people complained about the ending, but it really doesn't. The only reason I could think of for mainstream horror fans not liking it would be because of the accents, but that would be stupid.
Oh well, I thought it was great and cared about the characters, especially the girls. I liked Ben too but we're with the girls more so I cared about them more. The killer is relentlessly evil. This is a grab the arm of your chair and yell at the screen kind of movie, unless you're in a theater, then you probably wouldn't yell too much at the screen.

Les Diaboliques (1950) - A-
Thrills, chills, twists, humors, etc. Every scene is flawless, directed, acted, written, and produced well enough to make you care. I heard bad things about the Sharon stone remake DIABOLIQUE, so I can't say.

I'm just shocked you hated it!
SCARY MOVIE 4 - 2/10 (F)
I..I have no words at the moment. What I witnessed on screen couldn't have actually been a SCARY MOVIE film. Even after the average third one, I wouldn't have thought a film in this series could have been as horrible as this was. Do you think someone killing themself because they have a massive erection is funny? If you do, go and see this flick. There was absolutely nothing funny in it. I chuckled once or twice. The only time I chuckled, nobody else even laughed, obviously I was the only one that got the joke The theater was almost all sold out and they too, hardly ever laughed. The first thing is, this fucking movie has so much slap stick humor, it is DISGUSTING. Every thirty seconds something slap-sticky happens. It's completely boring and unfunny to watch. I'm really happy that the audience picked up on this. The second thing, the only reason this series works is because of Anna Faris and Regina Hall..they are WASTED in this movie. Anna Faris is in a little less than half of the movie and Regina Hall doesn't show up to the end. This is just a horrible, unfunny and offensive movie. There was one scene I was shocked they actually made fun of. It was a spoof on George Bush and Michael Moore's 9/11 documentary. I was just absolutely shocked and it recieved no laughs from the audience. Please, SKIP THIS MOVIE! I really hope that there isn't a SCARY MOVIE 5 and if there is, I hope it doesn't have Anna or Regina, then I won't even think of seeing it in theaters.

The Hills Have Eyes- A
Jesus Christ!! This movie is seriously fucked up, yet so freaking brilliant
Now, this is disturbing not like shitty Hostel
V for Vendetta- A-
Fantastic!
Highly entertaining. The story was very interesting and very well written. Natalie Portman was great, shes becoming one of my favorite actresses, and Hugo Weaving which I had no idea he was V, was excellent

King Kong - B+
I enjoyed it a bit more upon revisit, though it really does drag in the middle. Sorry, but self-indulgent, gratuitous use of CGI does *NOT* keep me entertained. I understand the sense of adventure one might get from being in a world of dinosaurs and killer bugs, but its actually quite distracting from the soul of the film - the relationship between Darrow and Kong. The ending nearly had me in tears, though....

8 1/2 (1963) - B-/C+
Quite an attempt to explore the mixed reality and illusion of Fellini's alter-ego, but its ending almost never answers my integrity to justify. Also, it was self-interesting at best, especially when you can't feel sympathy for anyone at all for 140 minutes. 140!? HOLY SH!T!!! Think Woody Allen films cure your insomnia as always, watch this and make sure that if your eyes feel tired for 85 min, I bet you feel your sorry ass I predict you so

SCARY MOVIE 4 - F
Also, I have to address the Wolf Crap support which I still find hard to fathom. If you like a film that makes you want to hate a character so much that you want to murder him yourself then I suggest watching Kingsley's performance in Sexy Beast and not waste your time and money gushing over Wolf Crap with it's cheap acting and direction, but pretty cinematog.
