Will see, but I seriously doubt it this time.. I'm just not feeling anything from the new SUPERMAN movie and the Marketing for this has been shi* for something due out in what?? 2 Months??? I'm soo seeing a total 360 turn from you once the trailer hits. Won't be the first time.
Trailer??? What trailer?? You mean the one they keep showing us on the Net over and over and over with little to no dialogue at all from an unproven actor like Brandon Routh stepping into the shoes of the Late Great Christopher Reeve who pretty much cemented this role back in the 80's??? If this is the one your referring to that's gonna cause me to do a complete 360 like it was supposed to do with Jackson's KING KONG, then I'm afraid your going to be disappointed..

So wait......... If X3 happens to do 5m-10m better then X2 that means its a dissapointment and/or that ALOT of people who saw X2 didnt go see X3
I can't think that you actually belive this.
Also dont forget, X2 had almost jack shit competition in it's second week. Dont think that just because X3 has medicore competition it's gonna have some great legs, it'll drop around 60%, good or bad.

Just so people are clear, if BKB were to do a 360 then he would end up exactly where he started which is thinking X3 will make more money than SR (which is what will happen). So either you mean he'll do a 180, or there is some inside joke i am not getting.

By the way, I am pretty sure X-Men 3 will beat Superman Returns. For one, you could blame it on Superman's non-existant marketing...

See, here's the thing about Superman Returns marketing that confuses me. It's a Warner Bros. film, one of the more confusing companies as far as marketing goes. Historically, the teasers they release for blockbusters are almost always much worse received then the final trailer (example: Constantine, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, The Last Samurai). Sometimes they have perfect adverteising for their big movies (Harry Potter, Matrix) but they have been known to release quite a few financial dissapoints (Batman Begins and The Polar Express both would've been huge dissapointments if they hadn't been saved by WOM, and neither Ocean's 13 or Terminator 3 lived up to half their potential.) At this point, I really get a feeling that they have another missed opportunity, only now all the WOM in the world won't save them with so much competition afterwards. I just find it funny that despite doing so much right for Poseidon, which easily could've been another Stealth or Island, they've slipped up on a film that should be one of the easiest sells in the world.

Ahh, I keep forgetting its WB. WB is one of the worst studios to promote their blockbusters, except for the mega-franchises like The Matrix and Harry Potter. They really dropped the ball on Ocean's Twelve for instance and truly, Batman Begins' marketing was bad (but at least there was SOME marketing!) and the trailers were mediocre. The quality saved them.

In the last decade the only film WB have managed not to screw up BO wise were Harry Potter and Matrix (yet Revolutions did dissapoint). So i have much more faith in Fox and X3 than Supes and WB.

bkb, you clearly are an xmen, while you cleary no very little of superman returns marketing campaign. dont say superman had bad marketing and xmens had great marketing just yet...and whats wrong with w.b.
their the ONLY STUDIO in hollywood that figured out QUALITY MATTERS. batman begins, charlie chocolate factory, and harry potter-had then been a fox, sony, or paramount/some other comapny-production would have been popcorny blockbusers. instead batman begins proved to be one of the greatets films of the year, and the quality of charlie gave it a gross double most expectations. harry potter and goblet of fire turned out to be a fantastic movie; it was the one book of the series with real action yet they stayed away from that angle and as a result got a incredible movie.
w.b. might mean marketing MIGHT get f'd over(and they seem to get marketing super huge films like supes;matrix reloaded and potter 1 were flawlessy adverttised), but they also mean quality which means better then expected legs.

I've got to agree with BKB - I can't see Superman Returns doing better than Batman Begins numbers, which only broke $200 million because of the fantastic WOM. Unless SR is as good as BB was, it will not come close to X3. X3 has a very legitimate chance at $250 million. Superman does not.

Well, you can always screw it up with that strategy. See: Ocean's Twelve. To hope that WoM will be good...that is a bad bad decision. In our times, for blockbusters, at first you should rely on a great opening and THEN on legs.

yeah but if you knew anything bout suprmans marketing plan, its obvious that the "word of mouth savs the day" strategy isnt what their going for.
pepsi, tropicana, burger king, quaker oats, and dozens more have tie ins with superman-BURGER KING is the biggest outside of studio endorsment right now and its supermans. variety reported thei domestic marketing budget at 75 million and its obvious they havent spent too much yet.

Heh those are product tie ins but nothing so far has been shown from the film set that would "bring" people in other than Superman fans. They can do all the product placements they want but they never guarantee success like with The Hulk or Tombraider 2, as I recall Superman 4 had product tie in too and it didnt do them that good. You really think that just because ssomeone opens a bag of Doritos chip with Superman on it that they must see Superman. So far X-3 has been doing a much better job at advertising their movie. With Superman's trailer hitting so late in May, you would barely get their target audience teens talking about it in school since some schools do end around that time

product placement get's the word out just as much as trailers and tv spots.
if not more. (it usually guarantess huge first weekend for big summer movies. in superman returns case it's 100% guaranteed)
people will know there's supe movie coming out. btw Brandon's on the cover
of entertainment weekly this week.
lmao Superman 4 don't even go there.
WB will have the month of MAY and all of June to pump this movie up. they'll get the job done.
lol Kids will be talking about this wether they're in school or not.

Yeah, this is JUST like ROTS. Superman movie franchise is obviously just as popular, so it should warrant 300m+ predictions.
