Not intentionally, but I do get a decent workout naturally. I walkt home from school once or twice a week, which is about half a mile. Once in a while, when the weather is nice, my friend and I randomly take wlkas after school for like two. I also play some football and other random games with friends form time to time, and that helps keep ym speed and agility up. I don't go out of my way to do it, though. I'm not a part of an organized sport at school (I'd do track, but it takes away too much free time). The only thing that really keeps me in shape is marching band, which is only three or four months out fo the year anyway.

I don't know how I keep fit. Based on my diet and my excercising habits, I SHOULD way a bit over 200 or so. I'm currently 5'10"ish and 145 pounds.

Haha, same here. If it showed, I'd be 200 pounds. I eat over 2000 calories a day. Yet, I'm only 125 pounds.

My metabolism = God.

See, I have the WORST metabolism ever. I eat about 1500 calories a day and have slowly but surely been gaining. Even though I'm tall (a tiny bit over 6'1" now), I still don't look very fit. Heh. I've lost about 20 pounds since I started watching out (about a month and a half ago). With a better diet - not much better, but better - and the exercise I've been doing I can notice a difference. I'm much more energetic, too.

Let's see, just got back from biking. I did about 7k last night and 9k just this afternoon. Feels great.

My diet sucks. I eat, like, two steaks (not including hamburgers) a week. We usually have a steak night at home, and every time my dad makes fish, I make a steak (I hate fish, unless you consider calamari a fish...).

Korrgan, why do you fast for five straight days?

Thats another problem with my diet. Even though its hardly junk, I eat ought two times a week on average after school at Panera and get a salad and sandwich. Also, my parents NEVER cook here, so I'm out usually four nights a week. I try my best to make smart choices, but I don't eat fish and I'm picky about what beef I eat. That leaves me with lamb, chicken, and salads for the most part. I'm not sure if I get a balanced enough diet, as I only eat twice a day (three if you count the afternoon Panera).

Meh. = my thoughts on the subject of dieting. I can't seem to find something that works.

When I came out of the hospital after my stomach problem four years ago, my weight was 148 lbs with my height being 6'1'', so I was clearly somewhat underweight. It took about 6 months until I could eat normally, but even a year later, but weight was still around 150 lbs. Stress at school, little sleep and little time to eat kept my weight at the same (rather unhealthy) level for that time, without any diets or working out.

Finally, about 2 years ago, I gained a bit and stopped at around 176-178 lbs. Again, school stress kept my weight at around the same area. I also kept working our parallely to school a bit, for about 30-60 minutes a day until my very final months of school where I simply had no more time

Once I was done with school last year in May, I had over five months of nothing. Which meant I was travelling, going out all the time (often ending up eating some fast food), having fun , partying etc. I was being quite lazy, sleeping a lot, eating normally and I made the mistake of not resuming my working out. I figured once University would start, I'd have stress again, so why not waiting until then. Probably wasn't too smart since as of now my weight is at about 196-198 lbs, thus almost 50 lbs more than four years ago. But at least it made me eat much less fast food and I try to at least work out over the weekends. So far, I lost about 2 lbs. but soon my tests and exams will start and that is sure going to take its toll on my weight.

I try to run at least a mile a day and lift weights every day, but that only seems to happen about every other day.

Working out? Well, I plan to start soon. Problem is, I have rip-roaring metabolism. I'm 5'4" and 100 pounds soaking wet. If my frame reflected my diet, I'd be pushing 175.

I walk home from uni. Which is 45 minutes, 5 days a week. I walk everywhere so I don't need to worry about my weight.

No time, but you have over 15,000 posts here??? huh???

Don't live in denial. Just say that you don't want to do it. Just say it's not for you and that you aren't in the mood. You don't have to feel ashamed, but be honest with yourself.

You will always make time for your priorities, even if it means getting up 30 minutes earlier in the morning.

Don't feel too bad though. The number 1 excuse is "no time" in America. Yet, the average person watches 5 hours of tv every night.

Everyone here has time or they wouldn't be here discussing tv and movies. There are a lot of things you can even do while watching tv as well.

I don't think time is the issue. Some doctors and cardiologists still keep in shape and make time. Yet, they work longer hours than anybody.

I have the mentality that certain "active" professions should have to be in shape.

Doctors, Active Duty Cops, Firefighters, and Military should be required to be in shape. Many criminals have escaped due to overweight cops not being able to catch them.

One story recently was of a family who burned to death in their home. Why? Because a firefighter who happened to be obese had a heart attack while going up the ladder. So, everyone died.

Look at your average hospital staff. These people look like hell and many nurses of grossly overweight and smoke like it's going out of style. Why would I want them giving me health advise?

I believe in "practice what you preach"

On a side note. Mcdonald's and such places have no place in Hospitals and Cancer Clinics. Yes, some do have them.

^King Dong is right. And i mean that as a descriptor and not as an agreement.

People over-estimate their metabolism.

Teenagers think it wont change. So do adults. Well let me tell you the amount of people who have graduated from MY high school and instantly piled on huge amounts of weight is very very high. Because they've cut out the exercise that was fueling their metabolism. Suddenly the people I saw snickering at the fat girl are larger than the person they made fun of.

Right now im on a weight burn so im under 1000 calories a day. Lost about 4 pounds in 5 days. But i havent started to build muscles up again so some of thats going to go back on or be harder to shift when i do. Ever since an injury at school I've been battling to get into shape again. Sometimes im in pretty good shape and then others im like wtf is wrong. I was at my heaviest ever about two months ago, but have lost about a stone since then.

Under 1,000 calories a day?

Your body is in starvation mode which will ruin your metabolism. You are losing mostly water and muscle mass. Anything more than 2 pounds a week will be a lot of muscle mass. That is the last thing you want to loose and muscle is what burns calories all day long.

Once you start eating normally again, you will gain it all back and then some.

A healthy lifestyle and exercise is the only way to maintain a good body forever in a healthy way. Diets don't work.

Too many people think starvation and "magic pills" are the answer. These things never worked before and don't work now. If they did, obesity rates wouldn't keep soaring.

It's a diet thats worked for me before, dude. It's not starvation, its literally having a breakfast, a lunch anda dinner, just with food that isn't loaded with calories or fat [soup for dinner, salad and chicken for lunch, cereal for breakfast]

My soup has 89 calories in it, my heaviest meal is lunch and its mainly the bread.

I've never been a heavy eater, this diet is not significantly less than what Im used to eating. As a 11 year old i ate a lot of junk and binged a lot because i was depressed. But these days i'll have a bar of chocolate every 3 days at the most.
The only reason ive been eating more than 1000 calories anyway is because my college cafteria only seves fatty foods, so I'm not sure how my body can go into starvation mode if its never really had much more in it to compare by :D

I am such a picky eater than selective dieting is hard, i just eat what i want but in sensible portions.
The only meat products i'll eat is a home cooked burger, grilled chicken or sausage. Aside from that its basically soup and cereal.

They are a business to cater to people's needs and wants. It's as simple as that. Many people go to Health Clubs as a social experience as well.

The nicer a place looks, the more people that join and higher monthly rates can be charged. It's in no way different than a fancy Lawyer's office with prominent pictures and degree's on the wall.

It's why your "Four Seasons Hotel" is more popular than your "Lucky Six Motel"

It's all about appealing to the customer for the most money. The nicer a place is, the more that can be charged.

All simple business.

I think he means that people should be hauling their fatasses up a staircase rather than floating up one.

50% of those who join a health club drop out in a matter of months. Most of the money made by Health Clubs is from people who don't use their memberships.

Some of the regular members are very cocky. They would place bets on who would return and who would not. I never took place in them because I thought it was just wrong.

Some people really do have "Bad genetics" and "a lot of fat cells" making it very hard for them to loose weight. Not impossible, but very difficult. It really is true. But, way too many people who don't "truly" have those issues use that as an excuse.

I used to work at one about 6 years ago and some of the stories you would hear boarder on insanity. Here are some of them.

I completely understand if someone hates exercising or something else. I hate cleaning. I still do it, but I dont like it. Just say it. Don't blame the machines like they have personalities or others. That's like me blaming the broom and my father who's dead because I don't like to clean.

=====================

One woman complained that the exercises were too difficult. Yet, she was walking at a rate of 2 miles per hour on a treadmill. Walking... She didn't have any injuries or diseases which would have her in pain or prevent her from walking.

A larger woman complained because beer was not served at the juice bar. She insisted that beer and vodka should be provided at the juice bar.

An obese man claimed that he deserved Chicken McNuggets and a SuperSize Fry because he did 5 cruches. He started to pout like a little child. He insisted that the calories were all burned off and that he was big boned and needed more protein.

Two woman chattering on with Starbucks Coffee on a rowing machine for an hour. They put no more than 5 minutes into actually rowing. Most of their time consisted of talking and slurping. They claim that the machine is faulty and that is why they still have love handles.

This one was great. A "pothead" enters the center with a joint hidden in his shirt pocket. He was as thin as the "cryptkeeper" and extrememly boney to the point of being blown away by a gust of wind. He goes to lift weights too heavy for him. He starts to get violent claiming that these weights are marked incorrectly. He proceeds to throw a barbell of 5 pounds through a window and gets arrested.

I used to think my metabolism sucked which forced me to exercise a lot. I now see that I simply ate a ton of food. I now eat 4,000+ calories a day (more then ever) and slowly lose weight. It's just about having muscle mass and being active all day. I fidget all the time, which actually does make a big difference, and when writting a paper I don't sit there thinking about what to write, but pace.

I can type over 90 words per minute and i've occasionally done that for a hours on end.

Best workout ever.

:)

On a positive note though, I've lost a bit of weight in the last year just by eating well and cutting down bread. But I want to tone a bit now and that means i got to exercise bc eating well wont make you gain muscle or any of that other stuff :(

I'm SO lazzzy

Your a guy, right? I'm not sure. Either way, this info works the same for both sexes.

Your probably an Ectomorph. You would be defined as a "hardgainer." If you want to gain a lot of muscle, you would need careful planning in your diet, 6 meals a day of healthy stuff, eat alot and then eat again, and a lot of rest. Not so much cardio and your weight training needs to be pretty quick.

Not sure if you want a Bodybuilder build. Your build would most likely resemble that of a "Male Model Build" if in top shape depending on your genetics. Positives of this include being able to go low on body fat easier to get ripped.

You could get a body builder build, but that would take a lot of careful planning and a big commitment. More so than where your body will be comfortable. The minute you stop, your body would go back to where most comfortable. So, I don't know if it's worth it to you. That would be up to you.

Famous Ectomorphs

Lisa Kudrow, Kate Moss, Brad Pitt, Edward Norton

Count your blessings. Things could be worse which you will see below.

---------------------

The ENDOMORPH: The body of the extreme endomorph is round and soft. The arms and legs of the extreme endomorph are short in length and taper. A pure Endomorph will find weight loss very difficult and is disposed to many fat cells.

Famous Endomorphs

John Goodman, Roseanne, Jack Black.
