No its not, the films predecessors both easily got over a 3.0, I think a 2.8-2.85 is perfect I expect a mamoth 60% 2nd wknd drop, but after that its all smooth sailing dropping in the 35%-45% range

With a friday release, their multipliers would have been much lower. And I agree that average multiplier is too high, but some people are just putting it over at 3.0 multiplier when 3.0 is like the MAX for it
Just checked my new prediction, turns out that I am expecta 2.4-2.5 multiplyer.
anyway...

This and Posideon are greatly overpredicted. all over that prediction.
When WOM was mediocre for the previous film in a franchise 60%-70% is somewhere between typical and optimistic. Far less hype then last time, a star that has likely lost at least some popularity, low buzz for a supposed blockbuster, and low rankings in summer anticipation polls. I think I'm being nice to it with my prediction.

Kanye's song was the main reason why Jarhead opened that big, really.
As for M:I-3, the marketing is great so far and I have little doubts about a $70+ million opening. It will fall short of the second movie's gross, but $150 million is a lock, lock, lock.
Current prediction:
Opening weekend - $73.9 million
Total gross - $190 million

It's Godawful TERRIBLE and so totally NOT MISSION IMPOSSIBLE.. A link to the song was found over at RT some time ago, around 2 weeks ago I'd say.. It sucks and this dude's 15 Minutes are about to EXPIRE.. Listen to it and you be the judge..

I mean, I really want to say 85m+ on OW for this, but this anti-Cruise thing just stops me. But then there is so many other reasons to put it there: Marketing, franchise name, release date, etc.
that's what i'm predicting btw $85m OW. with or without the backlash i'm confident it'll do at least that much.

Hopefully they gave a promotion the guy who came up with the idea to use the song. One of the best marketing moves this decade, IMO.

Yet again, I don't care.. It's not the Soundtrack that makes the movie anyway.. It's the SCRIPT and ACTORS involved and that's what will make this movie fairly decent, but not better than the 1st MISSION IMPOSSIBLE..

I'm always puzzled about these comments how Cruise's popularity has vanished, and that the Cruise backlash will cripple this film.
The thing is, there is no Cruise backlash. It doesn't exist. Cruise has NEVER experiences as much negative publicity as he did during the 2-3 months before the opening of WOTW. And that become his biggest hit ever. If there ever was a backlash, WOTW would have been the film to be affected by it.
I repeat: Right after the negativity towards Cruise was at it's all time high he scored the biggest hit of his career. When people are upset and annoyed by someone's behaviour, they react immediately. Not ONE YEAR afterwards. Does anyone really think that the audiences thought in their heads: "Damn, Tom is a real moron. I won't boycott his movies now, but I will start boycoytting them ONE YEAR FROM NOW".
That doesn't sound very logical, does it?
It's now been a full year since Cruise went crazy on the media and he has been acting fairly sharp since then. The fact that he is getting his first child soon is going to give him horseloads of positive attention in media. M:I-3 won't be affected by any kind of imaginary Cruise backlash.
The only thing I see working against M:I-3 is that it looks like a bag of old tricks. There isn't really anything on offer that the audiences haven't already seen many times before. Still, it will make at least 180 million.

Well, I guess my point is that the "backlash" has no effect at all in the success of Cruise flicks. So as a B.O argument it has no depth.

Lets see now, you said theres an anti-Cruise backlash YET you are predictin 200 million for the movie. Thats a high end prediction. Man if there was no Cruise backlash, I would hate to see what the real prediction would be. probably 260 million from you
Either that or you werent going risky to lower the prediction even further

Great.. I wonder if Tom Cruise will go off on her like he did Matt Lauer and call her "Glib" to??? Anyone recall when Cruise did this over the whole Scientology argument and Lauer basically saying it was a hokey religion to begin with???
