AliasDarren wrote: Attendance at my theatre went something like this: Ice Age 2: far and away number 1 with more than ten times the amount of tickets sold than any other movie. I'm guessing an opening day in the range of $15-20m if past performers are any indication. The odd thing was the movie hardly had any tickets sold for tomorrow, which isn't very common for a family-aimed feature. ATL was second - started out slowly but then picked up over the course of the day. Slither came in third and Basic Instinct 2 actually tied for 7th with Larry the Cable Guy. LOL. Inside Man had a sizable drop from last Friday but that's common at my theatre for some reason.

ATL's 8:20PM show is already sold out, at least 3.5 hours ahead. That seldom happens at AMC Mercado.

AMC 24 Dallas: ATL sold out all shows! They really did a good job of marketing this film.

Slither
Regal Atlanta
(One of Atlanta's busiest theaters)
5:25 PM
Missed all the trailers.
Including myself there were 5 people in a 161 seat theater.
Film: Full review later, but in short it was utterly brilliant. Hilliously spoofing everything from B-movies to "Night of the Living Dead" without being too blatently obvious. A-

Slither 7:35 100 seater 16% full
Mini Review- Its was pretty funny at times and pretty dreadful at times, but it was pretty gory and i was entertained 75% of the time.

Here is what happened at my theater (before 7:30)
Ice Age
12:00 - 59
12:30 - 66
1:30 - 84
2:00 - 63
2:30 - 66
2:30 - 7
3:00 - 65
3:30 - 122
4:35 - 182
5:05 - Sold Out (200 seater)
5:45 - 120
5:45 - 33
6:15 - Sold Out (250 seater)
6:45 - Sold Out (250 seater)
7:45 - Sold Out (200 seater) half hour early.
8:15 - Sold out (300 seater)
8:15 - Sold Out (175 seater) both 1 hour early
the 9:00 (250 seater) is already half full, should sell out anytime.
(Wow, is the fantastic, especially for a kids movies. Early sell outs don't happen very often. This will definetly Upgrade tommorrow)
ATL
12:35 - 11
1:10 - 13
3:15 - 7
4:05 - 13
5:45 - 33
7:00 - 149
and the 8:10 sold 89 so far.
(This is great for an Urban movie. It will do much better for the last two shows On line with Hustle and Flow).
Slither
12:45 - 12
1:30 - 11
3:25 - 24
4;15 - 16
5:55 - 42
7:05 - 41
the 8:25 sold 19 so far.
(for this type of movie, this is not very good. Though it will do much better in the night shows, but still, this is not very strong).
Thank You for Smoking
1:20 - 23
2:10 - 3
3:35 - 23
4:30 - 19
5:50 - 20
7:30 - 48
the 8:30 sold 13 so far
(I guess it's time is up, or this isn't the right theater for it).
And beware for the Basic Instinct 2 report BKB
12:20 - 15
1:25 - 12
3:05 - 23
4:20 - 21
5:45 - 28
7:20 - 26
the 8:25 barely sold anything so far
(Wow, I predicted it was going to bomb, but not this bad. A night show couldn't even surpass a matinee makes this even more embarrasing I see Gigli numbers for this, since the performance was similar to this).
All in all, it looks like we were getting back in business. Our busiest Friday this year.

About the holdovers.
Inside Man was hanging in there. Matinee shows got between 23-40 people. Night shows so far are in the 70-90 range.
Stay Alive is coming in nowhere near last Friday. Matinees got 14 and 15 people, and the night show got 95 people, a far cry from the 300 or so people we got last time.
Shaggy Dog is also falling apart with the night show getting only 31 people.
Though She's the Man is hanging in there, with the 7:10 show selling out (90 seater)
V is still doing solid, far better than two than the openers.
Let's see how the rest of the night goes.

Sadly true. ATL is complete garbage. Even the TV spots sell it with a horrid rap video playing next to film footage.

BJs Crowd Report:
Movie: Ice Age: the Meltdown
Theater: Century 16 Theaters
Time: 12:00pm
Seater / Pack: 600 seater / 40-50% full
Trailers:
The Wild a good amount of chat, looks like crap.
RV: very little buzz or laughter at any of the trailer, the film has potential but I doubt it will be any good.
Just My Luck: solid reaction, chatter and such, looks skippable though.
Over the Hedge a fantastic amount of buzz, looking good.
Crowd Reaction: Couldnt tell, many seemed entertained though. The kids loved it of course so it should get some repeat viewings.
Review: Solid watch, I would put it on the same levels as the first film no better no worse, it was not nearly as funny but equally entertaining. The Vultures rocked, they were awesome as was the scatt as expected
Grade: B+

Isn't that about what you did for Inside Man last weekend too? I remember seeing most of the later showtimes sold out for that but I wasn't around to check for ATL. Once my movie was over I got as far away from that area as possible.

Take the Lead has about the same number of sellouts for its sneaks as Eight Below did recently.
Looks promising so far.
