Isn't it interesting, by the way, how with every studio rushing to make CGI films, that the three films nominated for an Oscar this year are all done with traditional animation techniques? Hehe, well, not exactly "traditional". Well, clay animation and other forms of stop-motion animation have been around as long as animation has (in other words, since film began). Having now seen all nominated animated films, my pick still goes to W&G. Easily.
I thought Howl's Moving Castle was quite bad, and I'm otherwise a big fan of Miyazaki.
If I'd had to nominate 3 last year, my spots would have gone to W&G, Corpse Bride, and probably Steamboy.
Ouch. Terrible year.
