 Pixar's CARS rated G
So.... what does this do for its opening weekend total... does it increase it now ALL little kids can see it because it's rated G?
Does it have a chance to beat any of the top dogs like Superman, Pirates or X-men for HIGHEST OPENING WEEKEND???
Any thoughts?

The biggest problem is, this film will realistically skew much more towards males, and might not get as much interest from females. Yes, its Pixar, but realistically this could very well happen. I think it'll do well, but it won't be as big as Ratouille will be.

I think it's a lock for 200 mil, but Over the Hedge or Ice Age 2 could take it's animation crown away from it. I mean, Over the Hedge just looks sooooo much better. Cars is Pixar, but does that lead to that much of a difference? From where I'm sitting, OTH looks a zillion times more superior. Better story, more fun animation, more comedy overall, better voices. I think the movie is one of the more underpredicted of the year, IMO it has a shot at 300 mil. Seriously.

You're one of those people who liked Shark Tale better than The Incredibles, aren't you?

No(though I wasn't too impressed with the Incredibles). I actually adore most Pixar movies, Toy Story 1 and 2, Finding Nemo.

Dare I say it... but it will draw in the Nascar crowd... and they are an un-tapped market... yippee!!!
Cars will be the best animated movie this year. I gaurantee it!
Pixar can do NO wrong

As a motorsport fan (mainly F1 not Nascar) I have a soft spot for this one. I know alot of motorsports fans are interested in Talledega Nights so I think this will pick up Nascar fans aswell.
This has a realistic chance at $250m+ and even $300m - if Over the Hedge isnt too big.

Actually, that's a tough question, because both X3 and SR will be released on holiday weekends. IMO, Cars will open better than SP BUT worse than X3.
I see it this way
X3: 76m / 95m (3 day / 4 day)
Cars: 67m
SR: 62m / 98m (3 day / 5 day)
