Im tellin ya, people arent ready to see a movie about homosexuals win best picture. If people think im wrong when I say homophobia is the reason why Brokeback didnt win, then well ummm you're wrong.

I guess the sites working again.
I'm glad Crash won over Brokeback Mountain, only because of the drunk BBM lady. I wish they would've showed her again before they said good night.
With the exception of Steve Carrell (Who could be a good Oscar host), Will Ferrell, Tom Hanks, BBM guy in jeans, Ben Stiller and Jon Stewart, this was a really bad show.

So this the biggest Best Picture upset since what, Chariots of Fire? And when was the last time NOT A SINGLE FILM won more then 3 oscars? BTW, this is the first time the BP winner won only 3 Oscars since Rocky.
And while I didn't loathe Crash, this is still a major, Major MAJOR fuckup of taste. UUUUUGGGGGHHHHHH

The only thing that makes Marty worse is that Crash isn't filmed like a sitcom.

And by the way, am I the only one who thought Jack looked like he was going to say:
"Crash! ... Ha ha, just kidding. *adjusts sunglasses* The best picture winner is...Brookeeebackkk Mountainn!"
I would've cried. Would've been the funniest Oscar moment ever.

Hehehe, I am probably one of the only 3-4 people on these entire boards who are happy about this win. Brokeback Mountain was a good movie and I wouldn't have been really upset if it won, but Crash actually made it quite high on my year's list and it is what I consider to be one of last year's five best films, unlike Brokeback Mountain.
Second of all, I am happy it won because there was at least one surprise (and what a huge one?!). Before the win was announced this was shaping up to be the most predictable Oscar show I have ever seen, even rivaling last year's ceremony. I started nodding off when Hoffman won the Oscar and only really woke up during Haggis' final speech. I thought I was in some alternate universe or that I was dreaming. Good thing I taped the whole ceremony so I rewinded and watched it again.
Wow.

With the push of Oprah, Ebert, and Roeper, that could have made the difference in this year's best picture win. Ebert pushed Million Dollar Baby ALOT, as he did Halle Berry for best actress the year she won. And for two years in a row Ebert pushed the underdog (2004 being MDB over The Aviator), and has been right. Perhaps Oprah/Ebert/Roeper's say is becoming much more influential in terms of best picture wins.

You guys notice that they used the word racism at least 15 times tonight, but never once said the word homophobia (instead opting for "intolerance")

Ang Lee was interviewed on E, he seemed actually hurt. He said "we were leading all season".

This is what I seriously thought. It wasn't until they cut to Haggis getting up that I realized Jack wasn't being Jack.

Jon Stewart gets a thumbs up from me. The Scorsece joke was gold, as was his reaction to Pimp winning.
Opening was great too, until David Letterman TOTALLY killed it. Mel Gibson drove the nail into the coffin. Billy/Rock, Steve Martin, and Whoopi did awesome though.

No, I did too. It didn't even look like he opened the envelope, which is why I thought that.

Not only is Marty a far better film than Crash, so is...every other Best Picture winner. Ever. This is the worst.
Around the World in 80 Days, The Greatest Show On Earth, A Beautiful Mind....all have more worth than Crash.
