I don't know if you can post your theater name here? Mine is at The Atlantic Station Regal, so unless you changed theaters that isn't you is it?

Hmm, this could do anything, I could do pink panther numbers, but I dont underestimate the date crowd either during a holiday. I can't decide.

I'm going with $26M for the long weekend, but I think it could still do $30M.
26/65.

When they can't even fill up a free preview screening you know things are bad.
At one of the most popular theaters in Atlanta there was less then 50% capacity. And this is after being advertised from not one, but two radio stations, plus a newspaper and an internet site.
Not a good sign at all. Even The Producers filled up its auditorium at a less popular theater.

I withdraw my support for this film. It will be lucky to make 16m now.

It's over, no way it will even have 25m for the 4 day IMO. I don't think the appeal was wide enough.

I always thought this film was more Teen movie than Scary movie - so i say $20m four day.

What kind of confidence is that?!

Yeeeeeeeah.
Uh, last time I checked, $26M is more than $25M. So, when I say "Date Movie will make no less than $25M 4-Day," I didn't do anything wrong by going with $26M.

Zingaling wrote: If what you said before about Date Movie being a big internet movie were true, it would be tracking well on Reel Source, atleast. And, yeah, comparing Date Movie to Freedomland (which is like destined to make less than $30M TOTAL) and Eight Below is not exactly the best idea.
Like I said, everyone is trying to find reasons why it's tracking well on Moviefone and Yahoo, instead of judging it like other films that have showed up on there early in the week and went on to do well (WASC, FD3, Underworld, etc.). It's not like Date Movie is some special exception to every single Moviefone and Yahoo related rule. Underworld: Evolution was probably a huge internet movie, and it did show up on Moviefone and Yahoo around the same time as this. But, no one excused that. People are trying to find reasons why this one is an exception, when really, it's not the case.
Well, the internet buzz is good, but hardly extraordinary. The yahoo search buzz score of 9 is hardly impressive; movies that open with under 10m often have scores nearly as high. Underworld 2 was in the mid 20s at this time. The other buzz indicator that track clicks is much better for the movie, but that's because of the trailer, and trailer viewing at yahoo has never been a good indicator for BO. It's hard to say how many clicks it has independent of the trailer.
As for moviefone, well, there have been movies to bomb that have done as well.

Final prediction:
$17.8m (3-day) / $21.0m (4-day) / $50.0m (total)

Damn, i never joined the $35M group....but earlier on in this thread, i had $31M.
Then said on page 4, "no doubt in my mind, this will open above $30M"
Hehee, how i was wrong.
The movie is far from a flop though....still very solid figures.

But I don't think it will here. It looks like another Not Another Teen Movie if you ask me. The ads have just been...bad. I'm thinking it could go as low as 13 million 3-day, though I'll be predicting somewhere around 20 to 21 million most likely.
And then this. Owned.

Alright, so it didn't quite open to what I expected, but for a $20M production cost, it'll be a nice little profit for Fox.
Oh, and tracking was off big time for it.
