I'm just bought a whole heap of stock in Shaggy Dog today on HSX, i'm expecting big things in the similar tone of THE PACIFIER.
HILLS - 16m

Very big weekend. The three openers could pump in $80 m + into the market.

I just had a revelation that it'll become the next in the trend of derby-killing flops...

The Shaggy Dog - 30 million. Tim Allen +Disney +Family comedy = Big money.
The Hills Have Eys - 20 million. Horror remake +creepy commercials (the girl) = Big money
Failure to Launch - 15 million. SJP + romantic comedy + lame commercials = underperformance. She's so annoying although seeing Bradshaw is worth the price of admission for me.

I'm already changing my mind on some things...
The Shaggy Dog 19.6 million (will make it based on Disney and the dog theme, plus heightened theatre counts)
Hills Have Eyes 16.2 million (R-rated remake of a movie no one really know or cares about, even horror fans, by a director whose big American debut flopped)
Failure to Launch 14.6 million (haven't been any strong rom-coms for women in a long time... good premise and great cast!)
(Holy crap! I'm predicting higher for Failure to Launch than Libs?!?!)

Any guy going to see this for Bradshaw is going to be seeing a lot more of him than they ever wanted to!

MY EARLY PREDICTIONS FOR NEXT WEEKEND'S NEW RELEASES:
THE SHAGGY DOG - 24.1 MILLION FAILURE TO LAUNCH - 22.5 MILLION THE HILLS HAVE EYES - 18 MILLION (It's not easy to predict this one because I haven't seen a single TV spot for it)
THE LIBERTINE - 2.9 MILLION

It wasn't exactly an American debut when it was a foreign film, and most people aren't even going to know who the director is, nor will they care much. They'll just think it looks like a kickass horror flick and check it out. HIGH TENSION not being a huge hit won't hurt it. Besides, Wes Craven is involved, and people do recognize his name.

Paramount delaying Failure to Launch a month has to be one of the most boneheaded decisions of 2006. The Hills Have Eyes could beat it by a good 5-10 million despite costing at most 1/4th as much. Right now I'm thinking:
Shaggy Dog 26 million
The Hills Have Eyes 22 million
Failure to Launch 12 million

Damn, HILLS HAVE EYES is hard to predict.
I would say it's a lock for over $15M however.
The trailers and tv spots are too scary for one to do average. I hope it does great

Failure to Launch will do well. Do I need to step in and be Libs for a second? Don't underestimate the romcom, especially when we really haven't had a real, traditional adult romcom for a long while now. Plus women go 'gaga' over Matthew McConaughey. Big time.
The Shaggy Dog looks to pull in those kids numbers. This is the type of film kids just love. I can just feel the vibe coming from this for them, even if I think it looks atrocious.
And then we have The Hills Have Eyes, which I think will make the least of the 3 films, but that is simply due to the limited appeal of the film/genre. I expect this to pull in relatively strong numbers too (at least $10 million I'm thinking right now). I personally think the television commercials have been stunning. This is the one horror film I have to see this year.
All three films have shown strong advertisement in my area. I think it will be a weekend in which all 3 openers pull solid numbers, and there is no super breakout and no super bomb.
PEACE, Mike.

Strangest thing happened.
The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things was released in the UK in July 2005.
I rented it out tonight, and it was brilliant. Then i looked it up on BOM and it's being released on March 10th limited.
This film has some fantastic acting, and you should try to see it.

Everyone saying The Hills Have Eyes lacks appeal must have forgot that the TCM remake made near 30 million OW while looking very similar to this film. Horror films always have appeal.
