Tony rises from the semi-dead next week, it appears. Yay! Kim...eh.
And yes, Smart MUST be recognised by the Emmys, even though none of the supporting players ever have (Which is a major shame, because there have been so many great players.

Penny Johnson Jerald never getting recognized for her turn as Lady MacBeth-lite is an injustice.

I can't wait for next week's 2-hour palooza!!!!
So that's when Ray Wise as the Vice president appears (I'm assuming William Devane comes back around that time as well)... Kim reappears... Poltergeist mom appears... Tony wakes up... and the HOmeland Security people arrive. Jayne Atkinson (as Karen from Homeland Security) is supposed to be this tough yet well-meaning bitch while her assistant (Miles, played by Stephen Spinella) is one conniving man. They're all there for the "CTU Bloodbath."
[spoil]where supposedly 2 characters die[/spoil]

I loved the mention of Mason and Myers. Poor Nina.
Any bets on Tony face? I say he's horribly disfigured.

Very good episode. Some thoughts:
The president's assistant oozes evil. Do you think he really is or just a run of the mill bastard?
That fat guy in the computer room of CTU just doesn't come across as intelligent at all, poor casting choice. Not because he's fat, just his personality. I doubt he can multiply and divide.
Pierce was pretty cool. I liked him the most of the characters other than Jack.
Peter Weller was great, good acting on his part, very convincing as someone who felt they were unjustly accused.
The subplot with Lynn was fun but I liked it better the first time I saw it when it was called Crimson Tide.
That on the knees "pray with me" scene was a reference to a famous incident between Nixon and Kissinger.

The president'a assistant? Mike?
No way, he's a good guy. But I suppose you never know with this show.

True. Though in some boards some speculate that he killed Walt Cummings. But I don't know, if anyone "killed" Cummings and made it seem like suicide, my money is on Evelyn, lol. They gotta make her evil! And if the writers want to bring in the Chinese subplot again, Evelyn is perfect as Sandrine Holt is half-Asian.

For the past 2 weeks he kept egging the president on to do the wrong thing, so he didn't seem very nice to me.

I am stoked for next week, 2 hours baby, I really liked the episode, except Jack really shouldn't ahve survived that explosion. other than that it was nice to see robocop again. next week looks good.

EDGAR
NOOOOOOOOOOO
First use of the silent clock since Chappelle's execution.
Other then that though, damn good two hours. I can see why they were bunched up.
Did anyone else gasp when Jack shot Henderson's wife? I did NOT see that coming, at all.

Um, why does Soul Man/C. Thomas Howell/Kim's therapist look like a cross between Kenny Loggins and Dr. House??
Love the reaction of JoBeth Williams when Jack shot her above her kneecap! Very unexpected.

The Vice President is up to no good. He clearly killed Laura Palmer.

I actually gasped at this, a first for the show, and the first time in a while that I gasped at a show OR movie. That was just plain kwazy.

Those random people at CTU dropping dead like flies? Awesome.
Nice way to re-use the silent clock.
Uh oh. Someone else dies (???) next week.
Heads up for next week: Homeland Security people arrive and relieve Buchanan and Chloe of their command or something.

I second that. I was left speechless for the first time after last night's episode.
