GONG LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII she needs to win. Because it's vital that she does! She must! MUST!

Christian Bale

Actresses:

Zhang Ziyi (could happen if she performs like she was in 2046 again in a bigger movie)
Gong Li
Kate Winslet (will happen)

People will list Naomi Watts and Uma Thurman, but while I don't mind them winning, I don't share the same enthusiasm. I'd have had Julianne Moore there, but she kept doing bad movies after the brilliant year of 2002.

HANDS DOWN Julianne Moore.

Xiayun: Although I haven't seen it yet, I hear she was very good in the Prizewinner movie last year. Then again, it was a nother take on the 50's housewife, lol. But it seems in all 3 of her 50's housewife roles, she represents a different woman, none of them are the same.

Other than that... Kate Winslet. I just hope she wins for Lead Actress in some awesome role instead of the Academy resorting ot giving her a random award for her body of work because at this point, next time she's nominated it will be her 5th I think.

Kate Winslet, of course! But she will anyway, kinda obvious, no?

Leonardo DiCaprio. He's a very good actor.

I agree with Leonardo DiCaprio. He would have broken out bigger from the Aviator had Jamie Foxx not stolen all the thunder from every actor that year!

Uma Thurman deserved it for her collective work on Kill Bill. I honestly don't know if she'll ever deliver anything else that matches her performance there, so I wouldn't be inclined to beg the Academy to give her an award. I'd rather her go down as one of the most notorious snubs in Oscar history

Patricia Clarkson is quite the actress. Too bad she gained acclaim and popularity a little late in the game, but she's sure to stick around and maybe get recognized along the way.

Hmmm... Ill think of more as time wears on.

Kate Winslet for sure.

Leonardo DiCaprio. I'd like to see Joaquin Phoenix do something that'll earn him an Oscar win. I'd really like to see Jim Carrey win an Oscar, too, or atleast be nominated. I felt like he was snubbed for both Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind & The Truman Show.

Love to see Bale win, actually forget winning I just wanna see him get nominated. I wonder how Rescue Dawn turns out, that right now is his best chance ( obviously he's still young and will be in ALOT more movies, but I think he has a good chance with that )

Bana is already a very talented actor and he hasnt been in much, I thnk he will eventually get an oscar and will become one of the biggest leading men in the biz.

DiCaprio deserves one, I mean it's sad that some comedian who does one really great role in his career and totally takes away DiCaprio's thunder, he deserved the oscar just as much as Foxx if not more since he's a more talented actor.

Edward Norton is almost always on the money, one of my favorite actos for sure. I dont really know if he can ever give a performance like in American History X though, he'll probably never top that. Hopefully though one day he'll get it.

Johnny Depp x infinity. He deserves one SOOOO much. There are so many movies (Edward Scissorhands, etc.) that he has previously deserved a nomination for and not gotten.... And again he's been completely snubbed for The Libertine; while I understand critics hated the movie in general, all I've heard is how great Johnny was in it. Can't wait to see it next month...

I can also see (and want to see) Rachel McAdams pulling off an Oscar-winning (or at least Oscar-nominated) performance someday.

I wholeheartedly agree with both. And I see both winning one. Depp MUST win one. It'd be beyond reason if he didn't.

GLENN CLOSE!! Will she ever win an Oscar? I wonder how Sunset Boulevard will turn out.

Julianne Moore will win in her 6th nomination, mark my words, lol. She'll pull a Susan Sarandon.

Peter O'Toole
Albert Finney
Bill Murray
Julianne Moore (I agree Christian; next good-to-great role, she's got it)......But I reserve the right to reverse this, should she decide to go forward with Freedomland 2: The Quest for More Social Commentary.

This was Gong Li's last chance sadly, Box. *cries miserable tears*

Glenn Close has got to win something one of these days.

So many already menioned, like Depp. Also Tautou, and I'm thinking Angela Bassett, Uma Thurman, and Matt Damon, too.

Very good call Christian... I was shocked to learn when she had all this Shield/Lion in Winter buzz that she had actually never won one ffrom the Academy of Motion Pictures

she definitely will be, but her lead actress chances are diminishing every year. She'll most likely win something for supporting Actress down the line.

Actors:

- Jim Carrey (wtf is wrong with the Academy? I would have given like 4 nominations and 2 awards already to him.. :nonono: unfortunately, he seems to be another Jerry Lewis...)

- Christian Bale
- Edward Norton
- Jake Gyllenhaal (my hunch says it's this year, but in case he doesn't win... )
- Johnny Depp

Actresses:

- Julianne Moore
- Kate Winslet
- Michelle Pfeiffer
- Sigourney Weaver
- Glenn Close

These 5 should have won years ago...

I agree specially on Winslet, Pfeiffer and Weaver. The fact that Sigourney doesn´t have an oscar is a tragedy. Doesn´t seem like she will ever get one, either.

Glenn Close, Uma Thurman, Kate Winslet, Julianne Moore and most of all, Michelle Pfeiffer. I can't believe none of these have received an Oscar yet.
On the actor side, Tom Cruise, if he ever gives an Oscar worthy performance again. Also Jeff Bridges and Jeff Daniels, both have given career-best performances in the past two years(in The Door in the Floor and The Squid and the Whale respectively) and somehow they've gone completely unnoticed for their work.

Bill Paxton. He should have won one for Aliens.
George Clooney- Is there a better actof working today? IMO NO!!
Edward Norton- because he is just so fucking cool!
