Ew, Madea has a chance at a two-week #1 run?

16 Blocks - $12M (This doesn't seem to have as much interest as Firewall, which is pretty bad)
Ultraviolet - $11M (I've seen interest, but I don't think it'll be enough)
Dave Chappelle's Block Party - $9M (Could be another Original Kings of Comedy)
Aquamarine - $8M (JoJo, yay!)

Drops
Doogal - 40% ($2.2M)
Madea - 60% ($11.5M)
Running Scared - 65% ($0.8M)

will block party and madea be able to co-exist?
/ will block party still be able to flourish or is the urban movie now tired out after madea?

What exactly *is* the Dave Chappelle movie?

Does it have musical performances? Is it Chappelle's comedy? I'm confused.

It's a concert film. Like what Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy used to do in the 80's.

The Dave Chappelle is more than a concert comedy film. It's the documentation of an all-day show Dave put on in Brooklyn which includes comedy bits as well as musical performances, and it documents him preparing for the show, as well as interviews with him and some of the artists, rehearsals... I'd say it's like a cross between the Woodstock movie and The Original Kings of Comedy. I think anyone who likes the show will enjoy the movie, even though there are no skits.

16 Blocks - $12 million
Ultraviolet - $7.5 million
Aquamarine - $6.5 million
Dave Chappelle's Block Party - $6 million

Madea will drop about 60% to $12 million as well, so it'll be close for the #1 film.

Nothing but pure crap this weekend.

If only Block Party had the same number of theaters as Ultraviolet and 16 Blocks, it would of had a chance at number 1

Partial tracking update:

Looks like Reel Source will come in a little later.

MTC had Madea at 22. DOOGAL at 7. Running Scared at 5 last weekend.

MAJOR THEATRE CHAIN:
16 BLOCKS: 18
MADEA SECOND WEEKEND: 15 MILLION
ULTRAVIOLET: 13
DAVE CHAPPELLE: 10
AQUAMARINE: 5

Not surprised with Ultraviolet. I think most are underpredicting it because they think it looks bad.

That would be damn good for Block Party and 16 Blocks.

Why do they have tracking for Madea's second weekend?

And I'm amazed at how level 16B's tracking has been. Could this outdo Firewall?

Ultraviolet will make or break everyone's Derby, it seems. There's about a $10M range this could open in.

16 Blocks will probably do better than Firewall because it's more action while Firewall was more thriller=more men.

I see around $16-17M this weekend and #1.

I don't see Ultraviolet having a big range, and if it does surprise, I actually think it's more likely to be upside than downside.
