Sorry but since a debate is between 2 people and 1 is in the 95 % majority and one is in the 5% minority, that is the perfect set-up for a debate. Why do you need it to be more even split like 50/50. Since it is a debate, you only need 2 different opinions. Correct?

Also, most of the debate could be about the movie but why can't it also include other factors that are very debatable.

Like

- Did Brody deserve the Oscar.
- Did Polanski deserve the Oscar
- Should Polanski have been eligible for the Oscar.

If one participant wants to bring up one of those points, it would be a very valid discussion argument.

Again, it seems that you are making up your own rules.

You should try reading the posts before you respond, as Baba agreed, we are having a very civil discussion on the factors involving a debate.

But we are not talking the Back 'n Forth Discussion, we are talking the Indie Festival. There are no good or bad picks for the Back 'n Forth Discussion. All are valid as long as they are independent or foreign.

As to the topic, Piano, Pianist, Pi, I'll talk about any of them with anyone. I've seen them all, and Lecter was right, I really have it out for The Pianist, and think it was an archaic, regressive piece of oscar-bait.

Yeah...I'm doing Dead Man with Torri sometime this week, but next week I'll try my hand at any of the above for a back-n-forth...or the following week of course, or not at all, if two people would prefer to discuss it.

Also, we can put one of them up for Torri's film fest and just discuss it as a group too. Not every film needs to be a verbal duel, even though I tend to enjoy those immensely.

By the way, I happened to see The Piano for the first time yesterday. It WAS nice movie. Not great as the movie itself, but as far as performances and the soundtrack go, it was astounding. I do have to admit that I found Anna Paquin rather annoying, but maybe that was the ourpose.
