Wow, awesome epsiode! Sayid's flashbacks were extremely well-made visually wise. I didn't realize that was Kate's dad as the American. Hm. Loved the fully turning numbers part. Creepy.
I'm pretty sure Henry Gale is lying, but's probably just the part of me that wants to believe Sayid, not Jack.

Great episode.
Henry Gale is evil I think.
When the button hit 0 with the egyption shit...wow. I have new interest in that storyling now. That was intense.
And put me in the "Didn't realize that was Kate's father until you guys said it" group. I'm pretty sure it was her biological, because she hugged the army father in Episode 9 after the step-father was dead.
Nice to Rouseauu back. Always <3-ed her.
Sawyer...I'm starting to like his turn. The frog squishing thing was deliciously evil, but entertaining.

Pretty good episode. Naveen Andrews & Terry O'Quinn are great actors so seeing them get a lot of face time was nice. Matthew Fox is good but he can be a little ...overwrought? at times. I also enjoyed the juxtaposition of the uber-serious torture plot with the tree frog hunt.
And did anyone notice the total lack of a female presence? I mean sure the French lady showed up to give us the willies for a bit and Ana Lucia was there for about 5 seconds, but this is probably the first episode that didn't feature any of the original female cast plus there were none in the flashback that I recall either. Not that this means anything but it was just something I noticed.

Great episode last night, its nice to see the season picking up the pace now. I was hoping Sayid would have started chopping the "other" fingers off one by one. Also when the clock hit zero then those red symbols started appearing, I was in shock. Also didn't the alarm go into a weird noise as well when those sybols started showing? Those Dharma bastards are brilliant!! The next episode looks great as well with more Dharma initiative stuff.

I skipped back to see what the little symbol thingies were. Only saw, like, a bird. And a stick. So yeah.

It was her stepfather. Kate thought that he was her real father and that Wayne was her stepfather, but when she talked to army dad in the "What Kate Did" flashback, he told her that Wayne was her biological father (which I think is why Kate's mom divorced him in the first place.)

The uber-fans have figured out what the hieroglpyhic mean. Apparently, the loose translation is "cause to die". Can't wait to find out how Jack reacts once he realizes that something will actually happen when he doesn't press the button.

Looks like next week's going to be a totally female-orientated episode. Looks like a cool adventure with Kate (?), Libby, and obviously Claire.

Her army-father IS her step-father. Can't believe you are still confusing this folks, hehe.

I just saw it. Great episode. Lost finally starts getting back on track and reaching the quality level of the first season.
I think Henry Gale (if that's his name) is evil.
The Egyptian hieroglpyhic were creepy...that's Lost how we all love it!

So, apparently there is some talk of this and my aunt is positive about it, yet none of you brought it up....
The army guy in charge who gave Sayid the money at the end and was talking in Arabic or whichever middle-eastern language... is the leader of the Others.
Could it be? I didn't think so, but haven't looked into it yet.

I suppose it's possible that he may end up being an other that somehow got on the island, but he is definitely not Bearded Man. The army guy is played by Clancy Brown, and Bearded man is played by M.C. Gainey. Definitely two different actors.

Actually, I think it's Kate, Rousseau, and Claire.
Pretty good episode. It looks like Sayid knows that Charlie was in on Sawyer's plan based on the last scene.
Also, Henry Gale was the name of Dorothy's uncle in The Wizard of Oz. In the movie, the wizard arrived in Oz by a hot air balloon. So...

It's the teenage girl right? But of course, they won't physically torture her to figure out if she's an Other or not. Or perhaps she's already with us, they're just bringing her to the front. Or maybe she's in that hatch Claire will find.

Episode 2x17 has been given a title... "The Whole Truth" a Sun/Jinn episode.
2x15: Maternity Leave (Claire, March 1st)
2x16: The Whole Truth (Sun/Jinn, March?)
2x17: Lockdown
TV.com claims The Whole Truth will air on 4/5 and Lockdown on 4/12... I cannot imagine another whole month without Lost during the middle of a season but tv.com isn't always reliable.
It's confirmed there will be a Locke episode before the season is out (Lockdown???) and it looks like there is a rumored Libby episode and maybe a Rose/Bernard episode. Probably ANOTHER Jack episode, because OMG it's been like 5 or 6 episodes since his last flashback! I'm also guessing that Hurley is a candidate for another episode real soon. There is a rumor of no more Michael til Season 3... hrm. Kate probably will get another episode soon. Kinda disappointed that Sawyer and Sayid fell so late in the season, would have liked to see another one by them. Eko looks like a fan favorite, I could imagine another story for him.
Only about 5 flashback episodes left after Lockdown, in the season if they follow the Season 1 pattern.
February 22nd will be Pilot Part 1 AND 2.

Good catch...! I knew something about the name was weird.
Lost is a kind of show that would realize this. Probably not Sayid, but if you said his name to Hurley, he'd probably figure it out in a heartbeat.

My picks for the 5 episodes are: Jack, Libby, Roussoeu, Hurley, and Multiple People for the season finale. I think they've gotta give us a Rouseouu episode eventually, it'll probably be a "big episode" near the end of the season. We need to find out what happened to her. She's quite the central character.

I feel bad that Claire is just coming up to her second episode.
Really solid episode. Best "Oh Shit!" moment of the season so far goes to the clock running past zero. I was pissed for a second, because there was no way he typed those numbers into the computer in the eight seconds or so.

I doubt they'll have another Jack episode this season. There's really not much more to tell. There's another Locke one for sure, plus a Libby one, then maybe Hurley, Ana-Lucia or Eko, Kate and then another mixed one for the finale.
Oh, and a spoiler:
[spoil]In Locke's next flashback, we find out he has an interesting connection to Sawyer. It's been rumoured that Locke's dad (the guy who stole his kidney) might be the real Mr. Sawyer. That would be kinda cool.[/spoil]

What I make of this change lately in Charlie and Sawyer is that they are trying to tone down the redemption angle. They had gotten a bit carried away with everyone being a new person on the island which not really likely. By having some of them regress to the way they used to be is both realistic and helps them avoid being accused of shallow feelgood writing.
Or maybe they have some bigger plan with the changes, this is just my sense of it for now.
One good side effect of these changes is that they rescued the show from the actors sliding into just playing themselves, which happens too often on most long running series. And Sawyer never really earned that "everybody loves you now" comment anyway.

As for Rose/Bernard the writers said not in season two but it's a big possibility for season 3.
I'd say, Kate, Locke, Libby, Hurley, and Multiple People
I think it will be interesting if the Claire flashback is a flashback from the Island...

One good side effect of these changes is that they rescued the show from the actors sliding into just playing themselves, which happens too often on most long running series. And Sawyer never really earned that "everybody loves you now" comment anyway. Someone posted this on another forum, but I'll quote it here. Quote: One of the early themes of Lost was that all of the castaways got a chance to create a new life. Some fifty days into their stay on the island most of the main characters have back slid already.
Jack never did leave go of his obsessions. Kate had a chance to blend in as a normal member of the island society, but blew that opportunity when she tried to weasel her way onto the raft to flee. Locke was given a chance for a true 'walkabout', but ended up trading it for his new drone job of pushing buttons in the hatch. Sun, after revealing her scheme to learn English, secretly schemes again in the Jin poisoning plot. Sawyer had become accepted, but returned to his self-destructive ways when he did his hair-brained power grab. Charlie just goes bonkers. Finally, tonight Sayid once again returned to the occupation of torturer, an act which he claims bothers him deeply.
If the pattern continues, then Hurley, Claire and Jin are due to also back slide. Of course Ana and Eko are liable to follow the same trajectory, and we don't know what demons lurk in Libby's past. It seems they have nearly all failed to grasp the opportunities presented to them.
The result is a castaway camp slouching towards chaos. Oddly, they are being bound ever more tightly together in their flashbacks, albeit in a seven degrees of seperation sort of a way.
I still think "Live Together, Die Alone" is a critical theme of Lost, but it is hard to see how this group isn't going to have a period where they fissure and live apart from each other.
To me, this makes sense. All of the castaways had a chance to start a new life and, so far, most of them have forsaken that chance.
