That kind of came out of nowhere, though.
Will it turn out *he* tried to kidnap Sun or something?
I'm hoping it was Ana Lucia because it will give people even more reasons to hate her.
I don't know if he could have done it, maybe orchestrated, but he was with Kate when she got kidnapped, wasn't he, he heard the screams

Garg.
Is it just me or was this episode a little off, everyone seemed to be acting weird and it was really predictable, not impressed tonight, and I've been watching since episode one.

I'm sorry, Charlie's turn to the darkside, completely out of place. Sawyer, just as bad.

I'm in agreeance. Is that a word? It is now, add it to your lexicon. But really, everyone seemed weird, maybe it's the island, maybe it's before they got that pay increase... and as for the dark side, my roommate even said, "He looks like a sith lord."

Looks like it was used as a way to justify what he did at the end. Because, hey, he's a con at heart, and can't change it.
Now here's hoping he fucks over Charlie the way he did his old partner. Maybe tell Jin Charlie abducted Sun?

Why can't you guys understand the change in Charlie? I thought it was actually simple.

Simple, perhaps.
But also desicable and horrifyingly stupid? Yes.
I hate Charlie. I wish RoboMonster would eat him and Ana Lucia. I wish that was an episode. Like it would be called "The Eating of Charlie and Ana Lucia By The Monster While Everyone Watches In Half-Hearted Horror/Giggling Fits."

I do. It was pretty obvious he was going to do something bad after being shunned by everybody. I just thought he'd like, become a spy for the Others or something.

So Sawyer came up with the plan and Charlie actually did it? I did not see that coming at all.

I liked this episode a lot, it really messed with the dynamics of the group (finally) and the audience's perception of the characters. Pulled the rug out from under me a number of times. I didn't find any of it unbelievable in the end, and it's nice to see a significant amount of dissent within the group really develop. My only qualm is that they talk about Rose & Bernard but don't show them! I still want a backstory on them.
Oh, and I'm starting to like Ana Lucia.

- did anyone mention / talk about the dog showing up right before Sun's kidnapping.
- Also the Sawyer part about the fake money or getting caught by the woman > hasn't that happened in another episode

By shunning Charlie, in an environment like that where it's only a small pack of people trying to survive, they pretty much ensured he'd do something. You don't have to be a psychologist to realize the danger of alienating someone in a situation like that.

I think he's there as a red herring for the viewers. About halfway through I realized that Ana Lucia was shown watching the dog a few episodes ago so I figured it was indeed she who kidnapped Sun. I'm so gullible.

A similar thing happened in season 1, with "The Real Sawyer's" flashback. In that one, however, the woman thought that it was real money and was suckered into investing money in Sawyer's "business". This time, the woman figures out immediately that Sawyer's trying to con her, but of course, that's just part of the long con.

so 2 different variations of the same starting point > doesn't that seem to imply that things aren't real.

Read one page back. I like her too, lol.
This episode was pretty weird. Halfway through it seemed rather dull and obviously another filler. Then the last 10 minutes took a really interesting turn. Looking back, it was a pretty good episode, but I agree there was still something off about it... the atmosphere was a bit different and it seemed as though none of the characters were themselves.
I'm liking the turn of events though and all the problems arising within the group.
I don't understand the Charlie hate... I think the reaction most viewers have towards him was the expected feedback the writers were expecting when coming up with his story arcs and it will eventually pay off. He's supposed to be that annoying nuisance (is that spelled correctly?)
Overall, I'm happy with Sawyer returning to be the hated one, but I think it happened way too quick in one episode and that stash/shaving cream stuff was a little desperate and stupid. But, at least it's going somewhere.
Next week looks to be interesting. The clock will finally come down to zero.

the clock is going to zero probably because they are ending that and moving onto in-fighting within the group, training the army and the others.

So, hold up...
did we ever get an explanation as to how Sawyer found where Locke had hid the guns?

The first time, it was "The Real Sawyer" that was conning James Ford's mother. Once James changed his name to Sawyer and started being a con man, he probably researched the con that the real Sawyer used to trick his parents, and tried to do the same thing (with a little variation, of course). So they were similar cons, but done by two different people.

Great episode last night. A 100% improvement over the horrible Charlie episode. The paradise of the group is finally getting a reality check with two "outsiders". Sawyer's character is now my favorite over Locke. The look on Locke's face was priceless when he realized he got screwed. Sawyer is right in a way, who are Jack and Locke to tell everyone else what to do? Was there an election or something?
Next weeks show looks amazing.

Well I respect Jack much more than Locke, Locke to me just seems to be cukoo for coco puffs. In the first season somebody said something like that and the islanders seemed to want Jack to be in the lead I thought.
