Reese is trying to come off as humble, I guess. It would've probably been better if she didn't say anything regarding if she knew it would happen, but I guess "I'm surprised!" is better than "Yeah, I got nominated and I knew I was going to, who the hell cares?".

My favorite reactions have been George Clooney and Amy Adams. Adams said she called her mom (who was working the counter at Starbucks, I think) and everyone in the place cheered.

What's really starting to kind of annoy me is how much it seems Reese doesn't really care.

All her speeches so far have been like, "okay, thanks." It's like she knows she doesn't belong there. she's just so cool, collected and takes her time. Her SAG speech was like one of those Verizon or T-Mobile commercials in which someone is talking for hours. She wouldn't end.

I don't think the Richard Corliss one is that confusing. It's a saying in politics that only 2 things can kill your election, being caught with a dead woman or a live boy, molester/murderer or gay. He's saying since it was the gay thing that set Brokeback apart and gave it its success, it can't really lose.

Not only do I disagree with his reasoning, the application is pretty loose and almost no correlation except for the fact that the idea of being gay is correlated with both of them.

I actually like Amy Adams' because it just seems a bit more real or not rehearsed; genuine happiness and appreciation.

Back to the Reese topic: This is why I'm starting to believe in Loyal's fantasy that it's not quite 100% in the bag just yet. If she's apparantley a complete conservative shark, and she's going around saying comments like this, it doesn't exactly help her likability factor. She isn't nearly as beloved as someone like Julia Roberts in her heyday was. I mean, she's pissing all over the prestige that the Oscar season is supposed to get, she isn't showing respect to it at all. She might have a lot of academy members who don't exactly have friendly feelings towards who she is. And oh yeah: Walk the Line didn't get nominated, which doesn't help, and Felicity Huffman has been gaining a shitload of steam lately.

In any case, I think she'll be the favorite. But a Hilary Swank -esque upset could easily be in order, IMO. There was a time when Walk the Line was a lock too.

I think people are giving Reese a lot of crap too soon. She didn't even do anything, she says "I'm so surprised" or something and you all act like she ate your children.

I'm really beginning to like George Clooney. I also liked Michelle Williams comment because it was very honest. Witherspoon dropped the ball with a bland and obvious comment. She seems so full of herself whereas Williams comes across as the exact opposite.
