Very disappointing nominations. As much I loved "Pride and Prejudice", I don't think Keira deserves a nomination. Not over Q'Orianka Kilcher. Even Charlize Theron got nominated but NO KILCHER!!! And "Crash" for best picture, "History of Violence" for best screenplay.... but no "new world"!!!!!!!!!!!!This is why I hate the Oscars!!!
The only good things are Terrence Howard, "Darwin's Nightmare" and the "Walk the Line" snub.

And when was the last time the best picture frontrunner didn't get a freakin' editing nod?
It'll still win at least 4, including one acting award (pick one..), but damn... Cinderella Man? Palease...

The last time a Best Picture winner that didn't get an editing nom is Ordinary People from 25 years ago.

You know, BBM wasn't well edited. It was choppy, the transitions were weak, and worst of all, passage of time didnt flow.

Williams is Brokeback's best chance, but Weisz will win it.
Brokeback will walk away with 3 probably.

I think Brokeback will win Cinematography and/or even Score since John Williams could cancel himself out.
Not sure about the answer for your last question, andaroo.

Giys! I can't do chat from work. Keep me updated here! So Munich made BP? YAYAYAYAYA! And Knightly made Best Actress? Whhoo! I guess I'm gonna go see P&P this week before it gets dropped from its last theatre, heh.
What else? What Else?????

Well, that's a decent comparison, actually..
- 3 acting nominations - 1 win, as usual in these cases;
- 4 Oscars, which could match this year (Picture, Director, Sup. Actor, and Adapted Screenplay)
Except that Brokeback still has two more technical nominations.. that's got to be the least nominated BP winner of the last decades - only 6 noms? I was expecting at least 7..
...meaning that Brokeback is completely safe, since a) it has 8 noms, while the rest only have 6; b) 3 of them are in the acting department.. closest BP nominee is Capote, with 2 acting nominations

w00t! Another New World fan? Go visit our thread in the critics section and check it out. I'm sad about Kilcher, but not Knightly. I've heard marvelous things about Kiera. I would have put Kilcher in over Theron honestly, who just seems like the real space filler. If not her, dench. But Huffman and Knightly and Witherspoon should be up there, those are decent calls.
Its ok, ilu. We're starting a massive campaign to get Kilcher and New World nods here at the KJ awards, so, uh, at least she'll get some recognition. Heh.
OH MY GOD I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT WILLIAM HURT GETTING A NOM!
I wish Clooney had gotten one for Good Night and Good Luck over Syriana, but he's got so many other noms for GNAGL, though, I guess.

I know... but Crash? I know it's AN IMPORTANT MOVIE ABOUT RACISM, but c'mon..
I think it'll get editing (now that Brokeback is out), song (it deserves it, but I also can see Dolly Parton winning, lol) and maybe original screenplay, but nothing more than that.. I hope...

I can't look right now either, so how many nominations does Munich, BBM, and Crash have?

And Capote gets Actor, Walk the Line gets Actress, Munich gets Score, Memoirs of a Geisha gets Costume Design. Every film with 5 or more noms will go home with something.
