Gulfport was slammed by Katrina. Would any movie to do well there?

the responce is not in terms of box office, because it is only opening there today...
they are only referring to the quotes from people at the end of the article... which are mixed, but still some positive.
Tepid was the wrong word, but whatever...

"You mean about being gay cowboys? About them telling about something that's been going on forever?" said Calhoun.

I don't even understand what his response means . What was the question?
I thought the Oprah special was decent. The Brokeback Mountain special on Logo/VH1 was way more interesting though - that was great! Too bad they wouldn't air that on one of the bigger channels, like CBS.
Jake was a tad annoying, especially when he wasted a minute of our time with going to make a crude joke and then stopping, and then starting again but stopping and deciding not to say it. He talked too much. Heath, Michelle, and Anne were all cool and seemed really nice. I thought it was funny how they were laughing about the "Jack Nasty" thing because I thought that was so cheesy too. But it's been really fun to say so it might end up being one of my favorite lines of the year .
I just love Michelle and Heath though. Michelle is so adorable and sweet, and Heath seems really nice and laid back.
I don't think they talked enough about why the movie is so important and stuff like that. It was just a lot of silly questions, like ones the straight masses keep asking, like about the kissing scenes and love scenes. It's like, "Get over it already!" Ask something more serious/interesting/important.

I thought the questions Oprah said she had from the fans were retarded. And the answers were so obvious too. When she'd be like, "Who is the most serious?" I was like, "Heath." Then, "Who is the quietest?" I was like, "Michelle." "Who was the funniest?" I was like, "Jake," even though I don't think he's incredibly funny, but I knew he was probably the funniest on the set, simply because he's the only true goofball cracking jokes all of the time.
Anyway, I just today got around to reading Heath's interview in a January issue of The Advocate, the one where he was on the cover, and it was really interesting. He seems very cool and had interesting things to say. He mentioned that the scene in the kitchen between him and Michelle was shot on the first day of shooting.
Oh, and Oprah was like, "The scene in the tent was so unexpected and came out of nowhere. I thought he was just cold." I highly doubt she went to this movie not knowing the plot . I don't know how you could not know it was coming.
I doubt Heath and Jake are really friends like Jake says. They don't seem very close or like they particularily like one another in a genuine way. I think Jake seems jealous of Heath, at least he was on the set, where he's mentioned a lot of times that he was left out and lonely while Heath and Michelle were busy with their budding relationship.

I won't go all out and defend Jake, but try putting yourself in his position...
Not only is he the co-lead, not the main character, but his girlfriend left him and then Heath fell in love and got married while filming! I think just the fact that none of the critics really gave noteworthy negative remarsk to Jake is enough for him at this stage in his career and considering the character. I mean, he WILL be getting an Oscar nod out of this. How many actors his age and in that sort of stage in their career has an oscar nomination? This was a once in a lifetime role for him.
I don't think he was being too cocky for a pretty young "heart-throb" actor who not only made the most rsiky career decision but in doing so had a sex scene with and made out with another guy. Heh, you know how straight guys can be
I think Heath's completely opposite demeaner is what accentuates JAke's "cockiness"

I can see him being lonely on the set and all that and I don't have a problem with that and can see where he's coming from, I just don't like that he's letting this go to his head. There have been other actors to play gay and not act so immature about it afterwards. It's just a turn-off.

I was going to say this and I completely agree.
It was the perfect mix of seriousness and joking around and what it accomplished was making the film seem mainstream and popular. But, I also wished it was the full hour. They could have done more.

I hear Oprah actually did want to devote the entire hour to BBM but couldn't get Ang Lee...

Well, I don't think they physically got married during filming, but did get engaged and then have a baby together. Did you not know they are together now?

Hmm, it's been in the press alot, although probably overshadowe by the film buzz itself.
Ya, they fell for each other on the set and she had a baby a couple months ago.

In Spain Brokeback is #4 second weekend, dropped 26% (second best drop on the top ten after Geisha, which is still #1 and dropped just 14%) and It has done more than $3M already... It has almost the same money M$B had made at this point. M$B ended in the top ten for the year here... Don´t think BBM will go that far, but It´s doing great so far. It should stay flat or increase this wekeend, too.

In the UK brokeback Mountain fell 34% in week 3 for a total of £6,111,233.
Which translates to $10,853,406.
Fantastic.
Seeing it second time tonight.
