Why The New World isn't on this list, is beyond me. It was devastatingly brilliant.

Good Night, and Good Luck was really good. Just missed my top 10 list of 2005 list, but it didn't disappoint me. Up next is A History of Violence, Capote, and Memoirs this upcoming Friday.

Dolce, I'm surprised you haven't seen Cinderella Man yet. I've noticed that one missing off a few lists. I think everybody would like that one, and I say that as somebody who really doesn't like Russell Crowe. There isn't a doubt in my mind that it would be getting awards attention had it been released in November or December. It would have ended up making more money, too.

Capote? I'm still trying to work up the courage to see that one, but I have to get it in this week. Definitely will have to see it before the SAG awards.

And this is coming from a person who's not warm to Malick but The New World is one of the most romantic films I've ever seen. It's lyrical, the use of score is reminiscent of days past. In fact, the entire opening sequence with the arrival of the ships is better than most of this years so-called contenders in their entirety.

Best Actress should mean just that and Q'orianka Kilcher owned her screentime with such grace and beauty and heart. I'm at the point now where I don't even want to watch this year's Oscars if Kilcher isn't nominated. I fell in love with Pocahontas. I was devasted when she was, laughed when she did, and when she died, my heart sunk.

I'm hard pressed to recall a film that took me on a journey like A New World was able to.

I'm stunned really.

Don't you remember? The Seabiscuit of Men? I had, and still have, zero desire to see this movie.

That's one I'll watch only if it gets any major noms. Until then, I'll just be watching Manderlay, and rewatching New World, and trying to find a theatre that is still running P&P.

Cinderella Man is better than Seabiscuit. Watch it.

Should I blind buy Upside of Anger?

I would recommend it, definitely.

I'm renting Hustle & Flow today.

Transamerica is opening at my local Regal on Friday. I'll be there.

Which one? I *seriously* might make a trip to Orlando. No release here, as of yet.

And why the f@#4 isn't New World on this list?

I should be able to see Match Point, Transamerica, and Shopgirl this weekend if I have time.

Winter Park is nice. I like walking downtown there. You live around there right now? Since my mum loves it so much there, I might sneak off with her and see it. She is interested in it.


Matador opens at my local theater this weekend, so I don't have to make a special trip to the "Specialty Theater"

I'm about 15 minutes from the theatre. I hope Transamerica is worth the wait.

Maybe there's still hope for Kilcher, or cinematography, or something?

I won't settle unless we get:

Best Actress
Best Cinematography
Best Score

And a director nom over pretty much anyone else would be great

I don't know if its too late for me to chip in on this issue, but no, no, NO. Two good performances wrapped up in a confused, goofily plotted, and woefully undercooked package.

Rent it. I doubt you'll ever want to watch it again.

And I say this as an oddball Kevin Costner freak.

I'll rent The Upside of Anger over the weekend and give Loyal my deciding opinion

I only gave The Upside of Anger a C+, but renting it is fine. The plot is on the long side and didn't do much to me as a whole.

Mike Binder is a wholly untalented human being.

But as much as I dislike the movie, I want to repeat that Kevin Costner gives a great performance, probably the best he's ever given.

Which, considering the movie he's in, is a shame.

I don't much like that theater...it's kinda...I dunno. I did take about ten or fifteen Good Night, and Good Luck. post cards from their lobby, though, one of which is framed on my wall :up:

But I guess I can probably make an exception and get out there...I'll probably catch Matador, Squid and Capote first though.
