You tell em Brandon. I mean, I personally agree with you. Whetehr it wins or not doesnt matter, but it should just get the recognition that I think it deserves

could, should, would ..............

big deal, spice things up - yah Brandon is a rebel, anyway, just like Spider-Man 2 or others in previous years.

They should, but even if they're not willing to make the jump to bp or direction, they should at least acknowledge good acting in the action and fantasy movies. Michael Caine for BB supporting actor, or Watts best actress for Kong are in no way unwarranted, and would definately mix up the fray and draw a more diverse audiance group.

Still my favorite of the year. His statement makes sense to me. Actually I think if BB didnt take such a turn in the second half of the movie it could've been a serious contender.

I agree with Brandon, they should.

But it will take a long time until a comic book apaptation gets a nom at the Oscars as Best Picture. (I don't mean graphic novel adaptations, just some popular comic book adaptations).

I obviously agree with this. If the film is commercial and of high quality, there's no reason not to. If Spidey 3 is anything like Spidey 2 and it stands up to the year end test, it should be nominated.

I doubt the Oscars would be THAT fresh.

Well, true I think that too though I think it wouldn't have been a better film had they didn't do that turn in teh 2nd half. The reason why I love this film is because it was able to mix drama with action and fun

I completely agree with thta. As much as I liked the "dark Batman", I would not want to see a full-blown drama made out of the material.

this or give nolan some sort of award because he turned batman-a now unpopular character,m who was in really bad movies and had virtualy no conema respect now-into a incredible films, the best of summer 2005(easily) and most people fav or the year. he combined not only VERY convincing drama but some awesomely insane action and reached a perfect blend of drama and action never before seen a comic book movie. bale, caine, neeson, and murphy were all superb.dont worry begins will geta few nods though, for score, art, cinematography and what now.

I agree with the thought of awarding a commercially viable film of this nature.

But not Batman Begins. Potter, Kong, War of the Worlds... whatever.

Excel, Batman can't be nominated for Score.

Yep I agree totally. BB stunk but they need to award more commercial movies. It's silly, deeply silly, that Hollywood makes one kind of movie for 364 days a year and awards a whole other type of movie on Oscar night.

I didn't really put it down.

Batman would be better than Crash or Capote though. I just do not think it was amazing.

I remember you giving it a pretty mediocre grade when you saw it, like a C right?

I quote myself from my own Batman review, posted in the Critic section:

you are looking for a letter grade, then sorry.

Batman Begins was a great film that deserves to be nominated.

It has guild support so I won't be surprised if it gets at least ONE nomination. But of course its chances of getting zilch are far greater.

If SPIDERMAN II didn't get the Best Picture Nom, then neither should this.. This has to be one of the most overrated superhero movie's I've ever seen and read about on the Net..

Really, Batman Begins is a bit overrated and in no way is it something deserving of a Best Picture honor. Neither is Kong. If they wanted to put a quality blockbuster in the mix, Sith is what deserves it. Not only did it get great reviews, and not only is it a box office phenom, but it was the winner of the People's Choice award.

Seriously, it is beyond me and probably most others how ROTS can be called better than Batman or King Kong.

http://www.criticstop10.net/2005/index.htm

Batman Begins - #13 (6 #1 spots)
King Kong - #5 (28 #1 spots)
Star Wars - #43 (3 #1 spots)

Which film won the People's Choice award and which did the better box office?

I thought so.

That is just stupid. Should Shrek, Shrek 2 and The Phantom Menace gotten Oscar noms as well? Or
