Mrs. Henderson Presents is showing at my local theater, as well as The White Countess, so I may catch them both soon.

Don't be disappointed though- it's not the Crying Game. Actually, I think I might go try and see it again tonight if they still have it. I'm in the mood. That, or The New World.... hmm. heh.
It's no Crying Game, that's for sure. But Breakfast on Pluto has its own charm. It stumbled a bit out the gate but recovered quite nicely and rode the momentum to the end. Jordan has a knack for this sort of film and its shown in spades here.
About Jordan, I'm quite shocked he hasn't been approached to direct a Potter film (or at least I think he hasn't). With his skill set, he could possibly craft the best adaptation yet. He proved with Interview that he can handle big budgets and popular source material. What are you waiting for WB?

But if Jordan directs, surely Hermione will be revealed to be a pre-op male to female?
I knew you'd like it- A- seems pretty fitting to me. I think Cillian Murphy deserves more acclaim, but Oscar is just too tight this year. That, and it doesn't seem to be a hugely popular movie at the box office. I haven't heard numbers on it for ages.

Where do you live in Chicago? Squid and the Whale is playing on Wells St. If you live in the burbs, you could always catch the Metra.

Match Point
Capote

Here's my thinking, Capote could be pulled from the theatre. New World just opened, Match Point is fairly new.

Capote just expanded the widest its ever been, and is going nowhere until after Hoffman wins the Oscar. Match Point is doing well. If anything, I'd guess New World is going to leave theatres first of the three of them. Lukewarm reception compared to the other ones. As far as Oscar goes, I'd say Capote should be your next pick. As far as quality, Capote or New World. Match Point is the least relevant out of all three, though its still a very good movie.

The problem, like every single year when it comes to the Oscars, is that they don't play the smaller, better films anywhere around me. They think Canadians in small towns don't like good movies. Instead the theatres around me are full of Underworld and crap like that.
PEACE, Mike.

I guess I'll see New World and Capote to satisfy both of your suggestions New World on Monday, Capote whenever I get a chance to drive to the the other side of downtown. Florida traffic pretty much determines my schedule, anyway. Latest would be by friday, I suppose.

I'll be watching Good Night and Good Luck + Memoirs of a Geisha in the upcoming week. And Family Stone, but it seems to snubbed off this list.

Yeah, I think Family Stone deserved some recognition. It's a great movie, and was one of the most enjoyable movie experiences I had in 2005. Sadly, Rumor Has It left me cold.
Shack, how much trouble do you have getting into R rated films? Are they strict with that at your theater?
Try to rent Cinderella Man as soon as you can.
