Post Anyone know anything about Zaak Alzheimer?
It's playing at my local art house tonight, and I know next to nothing about it. I want to go to the movies tonight, and I can't stomach the thought of another overrated uber-pretentious snooze fest from Malick, and the new Underworld looks okay, but I hated the first. So, does anyone know anything about it? It's US title is The Memory of a Killer. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0374345/

Did you see New World already? If not, I still think you will like it. I went to IMDB and did not recognize any of the production crew or cast, so I really can't say I have any idea of tone or content in Memory. See New World, both Jeff and I put it in our "top 10 list" of 2005 wrap-down. And we have pretty different tastes, heh.

I dunno, Galia. I think The Thin Red Line is one of the most overrated films in recent memory. Is The New World a better film in your opinion? I do have some freinds that are going to New World tonight, so, I might tag along if you can sway me.

The gauntlet has been thrown to the stone, and I gladly accept the challenge.

I didn't see Thin Red Line, actually. Heavy-handed war movies are a dime a dozen, even if its a well done one. The fact of the matter stands that this is just breathtaking cinematography and score, so it should viscerally hold your attention in a way looking at a war ravaged countryside propbably didn't. Plus, for good or bad, its still a bit of an emotional "love" story rather than musings on mutilation. I really liked it.

Loki has seen it during the Fantasy Film Festival in Germany and told me the movie was beyond amazing (he rated it 9.5/10, if I remember correctly and called it an excellent serial killer thriller)

I've heard very vague, but very good things connected to the title "Memory of a Killer."
