Eek. NBC took a hit with new CSI and a rerun of ER.
Without a Trace benefitted greatly at 10. Dancing With the Stars, as always, a big hit for ABC.

ABC needs to do something with that 10 pm time slot, Primetime has been doing crap for a long while now. It looks like the move to Thursday has sufficiently destroyed The OC.

Wow, how did DWTS hit a season high up against CSI? And it'll be interesting to see how Crumbs holds up after DWTS leaves.
And Shack, I do believe that is a series low for The O.C. Not that One Tree Hill is holding up or anything up against competition...

Nice to see abc kicking on thursday nights.
Hopefully Crumbs will start to form an audience of its own by the time Dancing leaves.

CRUMBS will need to get better if it wants to do decent in the ratings once DANCING is gone. I find it amusing but I doubt enough people like it enough to go out of their way to watch it.

I expected the Office to be higher because last week's episode (about Gareth's concussion) was the funniest episode of any series I've seen this season so far. Was hoping word of mouth would spread more.

I have never watched Dancing With The Stars but now my dad is watching tonight's episode and I've seen some of it and can't for the life of me see how it's doing so well in the ratings. It seems so retarded. Who in the hell is watching it?

Excellent for CSI. Last night's episode was very good; very creepy and very emotional too. Loved it.
Dancing With the Stars is amazing eh? I think it's appeal lies in the show's good construction. Unlike American Idol for example, it doesn't waste and drag things out with a bunch of crap. Also, I said this last season too, but the show has WONDERFUL judges. They are snappy, interesting, and all of them are tough. You can't just get an easy grade from them for doing nothing. That's what I like, personally.
PEACE, Mike.

I agree. American Idol does whatever it can to stretch an hour out, but with Dancing with Stars being an hour and a half, it doesn't seem like that because it's not filled with nonsense. It's dance, break, score, dance, break, score, etc. It has a rhythm and it just sticks to it. The results show is a little more fluffed and drawn, but even then it's not too bad. I didn't watch last season, but I do like this season a lot. Especially since a lot of them actually dance really well, and it's enjoyable to watch. Drew Lachey and Stacey Kiebler, in particular, I love to watch.

Au contraire.
According to threads like these, the show isn't doing any worse than it ever was. Fast Nationals for it are always lower than the mediaweek ones, because it's a small-town centered show. It's been hanging around 2.0/3 - 2.2/4 all year. Fast Nationals = Big city, so there there you go.
By the way, OTH reached a 3.0/5 with mediaweeks numbers earlier this season. OC has 3.4/5 right now. Look how goddamn close that is. It's gone from a 7-8 million difference to a 500,000 difference in the last two years alone. Things are starting to turn in other areas as well, particularily in places such as the message boards and fanlistings. It's at the point now where One Tree Hill is absolutely dominating in every one of the "fanbase" statistics. For the fanlistings, Seth Cohen has 600 members, and his relationship with Summer has 800. With Tree Hill, James Lafferty has 1800, Peyton 1200, and Chad/Sophia somewhere around 2100+. The numbers don't seem like that many people alone, but when you compare them, and when you look at the ratings, it's surprisingly lopsided. There is so much more "cult-like" support for it than what OC has ever had. I've talked to people who've done crazy and obsessive things, like naming their kids after people on the show.
Also, I haven't mentioned this before, it plays and has registered fans in somewhere around 81 countries. The international count for this little show is staggaring. So heh, the WB has a bit more incentive on their backs than what would normally be there. There's also a lot of merchandise and shit that comes out of it. Closely-tied novels, clothes, Peyton's Podcasts, they might sell the drawings, the cds/soundtracks, the dvds, etc.
In any case, the ratings alone would prove that while it's not "absolutely surging", it's still in much better shape than OC. The two could switch places on the charts by next season, if OC survives.
