Yeah, calling it a musical (it's DEFINITELY not a comedy) is pretty bullshit... Sounds more like last year, they probably just wanted a more serious contender that would be taken seriously winning. They should've taken out Match Point in Drama, put Walk the Line there, and had 40 Year-Old Virgin/Kiss Kiss Bang Bang get it's rightful nomination.

haha...yeah I noticed they were sort of bucking around it. Or maybe I'm just being paranoid.

Well I didn't really follow the awards, but I'm really happy the Felicity Huffman got her win. I wasn't sure she could actually pull it off, thanks to the Weinstein's insanely bad expansion of the film. I think that hurts her chances more at the Oscar's though.

And of course glad to see BBM with its awards.

I thought Steve Carell's speech was the best speech, followed by Gina Davis.

Yea, I thought Steve Carrell's was the best. Geena Davis was funny, too, with her story then.. no, that didn't really happen.

I enjoyed Sandra Oh's and Joaquin Phoenix's the best, though, because they both seemed genuinely surprised about it. The other winners seemed pretty confident in their chances of winning, but both Joaquin and Sandra Oh seemed a little taken aback by it. Especially Sandra Oh, she couldn't even find her way to the stage she was so excited. I was also watching the post coverage on E! afterwards, and they showed Joaquin talking to all the reporters, and I thought it was the most adorable thing ever when he just looked down at the trophy and said how it meant more to him than he thought it would.

Haaaa.

Yeah, what was up with that guy touching Gwyneth's little sleeve thingy?

STUDIO EXECS PREFER 'BROKEBACK' OVER 'MUNICH'; SPIELBERG SAID DISPLEASED

As the first wave of Oscar voting closes, a sibling rivalry between films at UNIVERSAL has turned sour.

The enthusiastic backing of BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN by UNIVERSAL chief Stacey Snider has come at the expense of MUNICH, a top source involved with the Steven Spielberg drama tells the DRUDGE REPORT.

"Stacey and her team believe BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN is their winner this year," claims a well-placed insider. "The movie has been spoiled, spoiled and spoiled again, with endless promotion and support. MUNICH, on the other hand, has been horribly neglected. Steven has been thrown in the backseat. It has been painful."

Tensions flared further at the news that BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN passed MUNICH at the boxoffice in total receipts!

BROKEBACK has been far more profitable, costing only $14 million to make, while pulling in $34 million so far in domestic sales. While MUNICH cost $70 million, with a $33 million return.

A UNIVERSAL source strongly denies a BROKEBACK preference at the studio.

UNIVERSAL President Ron Meyer is said to be MUNICH's top advocate and supporter, calling it a masterpiece.

"We are behind the movie 1000%, and strongly believe it has a great shot at winner Oscars," says the studio source.

"More money has been spent on TV advertising [for MUNICH]."

Hollywood players watched Spielberg's polite reaction as Ang Lee's controversial western won award after award Sunday evening during the nationally televised GOLDEN GLOBES.

But behind the scenes, a quiet anger has developed over the handling of MUNICH during the award season run-up.

"She says she loves all of her children equally, but Stacey [Snider] and her team have given every priority to BROKEBACK," charges the MUNICH source. "Gay romance is easier to sell to the academy than a complex study of an Israeli assassin."

That's just some classic Drudge shit-stirring.

I'm not sure what Stacy Snider would have to gain by Supporting BBM over Munich; I realize Focus is in Universal's wheelhouse, but none of the Uni execs would really be getting any credit when BBM walks away with the awards.

Spielberg is hardly displeased considering he first claimed he did not want to campaign Munich.

If Spielberg is getting too caught up in this, than it's his loss. He, of all people, shouldn't talk when it comes to certain individuals or projects getting priority over others in the film industry.

Are there usually many differences?

It was a brilliant move on the part of the Globes people. Catagorizing WTL as a Drama would have thrown Joaquin into the wolfpit against Heath and Phillip, and WTL as a picture would have been thrown into the wolfpit against Brokeback Mountain and whatever else. WTL would have been SNUBBED.

On the other hand, if you classify WTL as a Musical, you assure near-locks for Reese and Joaquin, while still rewarding Phillip and BBM. It's a perfect way to "share the wealth," and to keep any WTL Oscar hopes alive.
