 Last Holiday (2006)
Last Holiday Quote: Last Holiday is a 2006 American comedy film directed by Wayne Wang and starring Queen Latifah. The screenplay by Jeffrey Price and Peter S. Seaman is an updated, gender-reversed adaptation of the 1950 film of the same name written by J. B. Priestley.

Surprisingly a very good film. It wasn't perfect by any means, and was overall very predictable, but even as such it was heartwarming and just a good-natured film. Queen Latifah once again delivers a solid performance and is the highlight of the film.

 Last Holiday: Inspirational Comedy Classic!
Well this one is special.
Last Holiday had me leaving the theatre with a feeling of emotional resonance like I haven't felt since perhaps Love, Actually. I admit, I'm a sucker for this classic storyline of a person finding their life after letting go of all their fears (a pretty faithful remake of the 1950 Alec Guiness original by the same title). But where this movie occasionally paints in broad comic strokes, it is continuously uplifted by the awesome lead performance by Queen Latifah. She is freakin' awesome in the role of Georgia Byrd, who's early repression is as believable as her ultimate blooming. If you're in the mood for an uplifting film experience, treat yourself to a viewing of Last Holiday, which instantly vaults onto my top ten list of 2006, and which will surely become an inspirational comedy classic for the ages...
6 out of 5.

This movie is reeaaaallllyyyy good. I didn't expect myself to like it that much. Ebert and Roeper were right that this was the performance that they've been waiting for Queen Latifah to do.

She was truely amazing was she not?
I've always been a fan of her, ever since Chicago, but seriously she was just perfect in this film. There could not have been a better cast actress.

I'd hand her the Oscar right now if I was voting.

An utterly charming, heartwarming movie. Queen Latifah is wonderful.
I would like to see everyone declaring this movie to be horrible before even seeing it give it a chance. The movie's message is to live your life to the fullest, it's not at all "morbid" (like some people, like *ahem* CONSTANTLY yap about).

Just tell me this: Does she really die? Or is it like we all know it'll be and turn out that it was just some big mistake that makes her realize how important life is? If so, Simpsons did it.

I'm not saying it was original, but the movie is intended to be sweet and I've seen it getting viciously trashed by people who will never even see it.
Go back to your Hostel and cutting off eyeballs and crap, I say, to them.

Hmmm, cutting off eyeballs or a sweet uplifiting story that has already been told many times before...tough choice.
I go with the cut off eyeballs.

True. How else would you explain all the good grades for The Last Holiday?

Get out of my fluff and go back to your gore.
OK, that sounded weird.

Well, if your "fluff" includes Rumor Has It...gladly!
But for the record, Just like Heaven was one of my favorite movies of 2005, so...

Last Holiday is much better than Rumor Has It. Much. Much. Much. Much. Much. Better.

And will I like it even if I think that Queen Latifah is usually not likeable and not funny and considering that I thought that the trailer was pretty lame?

I cannot see how anyone could give this a lower grade than Rumor Has It, which I have begun to dislike more and more everytime I think of it. Seriously.

I was looking so forward to it and it was my biggest disappointment of 2005, sadly. I'm so glad The Family Stone came up with the goods.

Hmm, same here. The more I think about it, the less I like it. It was just pointless and moved in no direction for quite a while. I had no anticipation for The Family Stone, but really did want to see RHI and the former turned out to be much more enjoyable.

Rumor-Has-It had a few strong performances in it. JUST LIKE HEAVEN is an abortion.
I only hope United International Pictures releases this film soon in Australia. I love the Queen.
