Thankfully for me, I'm interested enough in Narnia to not pay just for a trailer. I don't think I've ever had to do that.... Not even with the Star Wars trailers. Joy Why do people waste their money just to see a trailer when they can just see the trailer on line? That makes no sense to me and you know what's even funnier I think Theatres wouldn't even give the people their money back if they went to go see a trailer.

 No, I don't think theaters give the money back, and that's why I always make sure from reading various viewer reports that the trailer I'm wanting to see is attached to a movie I'm willing to pay to watch. Otherwise, I'd stick with an online copy of the trailer.
I think one of the appeals of seeing a trailer on the big screen is just the excitement of seeing it as big as possible. It can also help with those who like to analyze small things that may not be visible in a small online copy.
For myself, I'm just excited to see my favorite characters up on the big screen as soon as possible, so the trailer helps ease the tension of the excitement (if not fueling it). Helps keep one occupied 'til the actual movie comes out.
I've never gone to a movie just to see a trailer. Yes, I've mainly for a trailer, but always made sure it was a movie I was interested in seeing. I don't think I'll ever pay to see a trailer then walk out and not watch the movie I paid for. I'm not rich enough to do that, plus I'd never pay money for a movie I don't feel is worthy enough to see and therefore not worthy enough for my money.

Yes, indeed! I got to see the PotC2 trailer when it was up on the Volvo site, and I was so excited to show it to my mom and sister and judge their reactions.
It's gonna be hella fun to gauge the reactions of an entire sold out audience (I'm guessing that Narnia will have a few sell-outs it's opening Friday night, at least in my neck of the woods). With all the humorous material in the trailer revolving around Capt. Jack, there's gonna be some might big laughs.

Entertainment Tonight will be officially premiering the trailer for PotC2 on Wednesday night; the trailer is expected to make its *official* debut on the Internet shortly thereafter.
YAY! I'm crossing my fingers for it to be put up as an HD trailer on Apple.com... Those things are *awesome*!

More evenly split between male and female then SW, and it has the comedy LOTR doesn't, plus more famillies. Action, comedy, special effects, male, female, young, old, and children. The best WOM for an original popcorn flick since at least Raiders. This is the blockbuster to end all blockbusters. Shrek showed what extremely wide demographics could do. This will blow that away. I must have watched a couple thousand trailers in theaters. Sometimes there is some cheering or applause. Here and there there is one lone guy who acts like the Broncos have scored a touchdown. In fact, before KB1 I remember that this guy got laughed at for doing that for the ROTK trailer (yeah, as anticipated a movie as ROTK). For this one after the trailer one guy stood up and yelled out. Then a bunch of others started to do the same. Soon the audience had widespread applause. I was fucking shocked, and you know what I'm expecting for this movie. When does an audience ever react like that to a trailer? The only times I have heard that much applause was at midnight for Pirates and BB, plus Serentity fanboys on opening night. Those were for movies the audiences loved with fan showings (midnight and every Serentity showing), not a trailer in front of a random Saturday Narnia audience!

It might get to $400M, but there's no way it beats Shrek 2.
Also, if it does open on a Friday, I expect it to break Spider-Man's opening weekend record.

Fockers, Bourne, Shrek etc. Plus, WOM is far better. That movie only has a B- at both Yahoo and Cinemascore. Pirates has amazing rankings at each. Furthermore, it also depends on marketing, and I have confidence that Disney will saturate the marketplace with it. They always do: Nemo, The Incredibles, National Treasure, and Narnia. This is their big one, and they will advertise it like nothing before IMO.

There were a LOT of people who didn't get to see PotC1 in theaters, and only got to see it after it came out on DVD.... So you can add those people to the mix in *addition* to the original people who went as many times as they could.
This'll be a huge hit next summer. Perhaps even the biggest.

I saw the trailer before Narnia. The trailer looks very good and seems to have a lot of thrills. I was surprised since I was not anticipating this movie at all and did not even like POTC.
I will have to rethink the gross for this one.

Well, I was talking about those who liked the first one enough to see it multiple times; those are the ones that gave the movie such great legs. Those people will definitely be back, and therefore will fuel this movie as well.

theres a very long line of sequels to word of mouth hits that dissapointed...

lost world jurassic park
all their originals leg hits that went on to become enormous blockbusters but the following sequels ALL disappointed,with only matrix topping its original gross and that was because it was low. with the bar set so high already at300 million, id pirates has a great chance at a 100 million 3 day but wether it has a 3.0 multiplier needed to top it i just dont know, the 3 way combo of too high expectations,compitition, and a semi been there-done that feeling after you see it the first time, could stop this film in its tracks.
if superman has a big enough first week and good enough wom of mouth, it could pull a nara over kong type run.
quality will be what determines if it passes the original or not.

I didn't like it, and yet I am sure the hype will make me go see PotC2 on opening day.
Also, now that I think about it, I don't see why it would do some record-breaking opening-day numbers. It was in a similar situation as Spider-Man 2, which did "only" $40M. And PotC2 doesn't have a hardcore fanbase like S-M.
