What do Brandon's predictions matter anyhow? He just waits till the last possible minute when everyone else has revealed their predictions already!

I didn't make the Derby, but here's my predictions that were changed til today:
1. King Kong - $31 million
2. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - $30 million
3. Cheaper by the Dozen 2 - $20 million
4. Fun with Dick and Jane - $19 million
5. The Family Stone - $10 million
6. Rumor Has It - $8 million
7. Memoirs of a Geisha - $7 million
8. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - $6 million
9. The Ringer - $5.5 million
10. Munich - $5 million
11. Brokeback Mountain - $5 million
12. Wolf Creek - $4.5 million
13. Syriana - $3.5 million
14. Walk the Line - $3.5 million
15. The Producers - $2 million
I really don't see The Producers being that big.

Well it does have a fanbase, with some Uma/Will Ferrell help...

Obviously not, with its mediocre limited opening.

25,000 is nothing to scoff at, it's just we're all accustomed to uber-PTA's after Memoirs, Brokeback, and Syriana. Considering Producers got mediocre to below average reviews, and isn't Oscar bait, it did fairly well.

A $25,000 PTA is pretty weak for a movie with a decent amount of hype opening in only 6 theaters. For comparison, Chicago got a $26,947 PTA opening in 77 theaters.

And weren't Chiacgo's reviews over 30% higher than Producers? With much more Oscar buzz?

I don't think that The Producers' start is all that disappointing. It's not even the reviews...it is just that this show does not have obsessed fans like Rent or The Phantom of the Opera do. Chicago? That was the Oscar buzz that this one doesn't really have. I think it will do okay-ish when it goes wide.
You know, if Rent opened in 6 theatres, its PTA would have been $50,000+, I guarantee you that and yet it would have not been huge when expanded. It just depends on the fans' obsession.

Huh, looks like some of his "weird predictions," like for King Kong and CBTD2, will turn out to be quite good.
