I did project $100+ million for it, but I will not concede until the day it crosses $100 million, out of tactical reasons.

So I saw the movie. I personally loved it, I'd give it an A- or so. I'll write more in the Critics section later.

Line will surpass Ray's total cume by the end of the weekend. Not too shabby, but now that I think Ray was better; a wee bit dissappointing.

We'll be in the teens after next Friday, I believe. I think it will be over 90 million before the year is out.

Mhm, it should just edge past $90 million in the final days of the year unless all the Oscar contenders hit it too hard. I expect around $3.5 million next weekend, a similar drop as this as The Family Stone and King Kong should hit it, but it will rebound after that and should rise around 25% over the year's last weekend.
That's what I see for the remainding weekend's in December:
Dec 16-18 - $3.5 million
Dec 23-25 - $2.3 million
Dec 30-Jan 1 - $2.8 million

This morning, the awards season was set into motion with Golden Globe nominations for Reese Witherspoon, Joaquin Phoenix, and Walk the Line as a film.
Everything is going according to plan!
These nominations, coupled with it still being in a significant number of theaters and still placing at a strong #4, should lessen the blow of other adult Oscar hopefuls. I don't think Geisha will be a factor that much. The Family Stone will be, but not enough to really change the course of things.

Well it's been completley shit in the critics awards, and Phoenix has slipped to #3 on the Best Actor list. So not everything is going to plan.

Were you expecting it to win any critics' awards with Brokeback Mountain dominating everything? Even Munich hasn't been winning any.
Reese has won like four anyway.

Shack obviously completely lacks any understanding of how this stuff works, but damnit, the boy tries, doesn't he?

I really need for this movie to make 100 million. My club joinings have been really poor this year.
The only movie I have been right about so far is Batman Begins.

I just saw the video for "Jackson" on CMT and it's credited under Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon.

Maybe Golden Globes?
Anyways, I think its pretty sure fire with awards season coming up that Line will cross 100. But, what do I know, I've been saying that since, uh, last year?

Holidays. Look at all the other movies, they all are either down very little from last week, or actually up.

As Walk the Line is now at $83,700,414 (and still going strong!), it makes me glad that I did my homework.
