I've heard of those films in foreign sites being mentioned in very favourable light. Head On (Gegen Die Wand) was last year's release, however. Best of Youth might have been from last year as well. :-k

Hm, in the past four years I've not seen 23 of the (103) films with the most critical support.

I'm almost afraid to admit which ones, for fear of being eaten by some around here, but...here goes:
(excuse the CAPS LOCK, that wasnt me. :O)

Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN
IN THE BEDROOM
MOULIN ROUGE
THE PIANIST
FINDING NEVERLAND
THE STATION AGENT
COLD MOUNTAIN
VERA DRAKE
SEXY BEAST
ATANARJUAT: THE FAST RUNNER
HEDWIG & THE ANGRY INCH
BLOODY SUNDAY
TIME OUT
THE FOG OF WAR
THE DEEP END
DIRTY PRETTY THINGS
TOGETHER
THE GLEANERS & I
FAT GIRL
24 HOUR PARTY PEOPLE
MONSOON WEDDING
NO MAN'S LAND
QUIET AMERICAN

Which should I make a priority? :O

Hehe Moulin Rouge  , In the Bedroom, The Station Agent, and Y Tu Mama Tambien are the best from the list, I think.

Didn't he give 3.5 stars to Munich and 4 stars to King Kong?
Or am I totally off?

Travers also gave Syriana a 4-star, and it's no where to be found on the list. Typical Travers.

Oh man, now it is clear why The New World isn't up for anything. Slant is a great indicator what what will not be nominated.

Yay Batman and Sin City.

Tropical Malady?

I remember Dolce wasn't too impressed by it.

But Downfall and Batman Begins behind Broken Flowees? A SHAME!!!

They misspelled 'soldier' in the Tropical Malady section.

That's unforgivable :disgust:

What an odd list. Is it just me or does everything just seem odd this year? Like that isn't a serious top 10 when it's certainly warranted given the year we've had.

I disliked Yes and Me and You and Everyone We Know. Junebug is pretty damn high!
Nine Lives??? I wanted to see that SOO bad, but never remember it getting raves.

If that is indeed Ebert's Top 10, I am finished defending him for a while. I need to cool off.

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww

I liked Crash, but at best I would consider giving it a number 10 position. And Syriana? Let me vomit- overblown tripe.

Wait, just realized: hasn't Ebert been raving about Match Point since Cannes?
