I guess you haven't seen his trilogy of Wedding Banquet, Pushing Hand, or Eat Drink Man Woman. Ice Storm is slow, and I didn't like it very much, but Ang's overall filmography is as diverse as it gets.

He and Malick are the definition of pretentious (which means that Dolce likely loves their films  ). CTHD is a piece of cliched crap masquerading as art. "Just because the tablecloth is nice, doesn't mean the meal was any good."

With The Ice Storm Lee focused more on getting the period details right, failing to tell anything resembling an interesting story.

The Hulk - The less said about this so-called action drama the better. It puports to have depth yet everything is only skin deep at best.

That's OK. Fortunately I'm able to find a lot of people who share my feeling that CTHD is simply one of the best movies ever made. Arguing about personal taste is rather pointless, and jamming one's opinion down to other's throat is pretentious in itself.

I did nmot see them, but it is fair to judge him at least by the movies he has got the most acclaim for. Especially CTHD, of course. Most of yu here already know my opinion on it. It is just that I don't think that senseless flying and fighting on the treetops makes up for Oscar-worthy movie art. It is an eye candy, sure. But the storyline seemed very hollow to me.

Hulk was not a bad movie. It was ambitious. But it could have been done much much better. Especially in a way that would do the comics justive and still not kill off the franchise.

The Ice Storm. Well, I just hate it very very very much, In comparison to that CTHD appears like a masterpiece to me.

n none of these movies do I thionk did Ang Lee do a great directing job.

I am mildly interested in Ride with the Devil, though. It seemed interesting and I'm a sucker for this kind of movies.

Both movies are equally hollow. But at least Hero is prettier. And it wasn't nominated for Best Picture.
