San Francisco Film Critics Circle Winners
Best Picture – Brokeback Mountain
Best Director – Ang Lee, Brokeback Mountain
Best Actor – Heath Ledger, Brokeback Mountain
Best Actress – Reese Witherspoon, Walk the Line
Best Supporting Actor – Kevin Costner, Upside of Anger
Best Supporting Actress – Amy Adams, Junebug
Best Screenplay – Good Night, and Good Luck
Best Documentary – Grizzly Man
Best Foreign Film – Cache
I thought maybe not every critic award deserves its own thread, but then figure this is the time the Oscar forum flourishes, after being relatively quiet for 6 months.

It won't matter, but that's an awesome choice for Best Supporting Actor. He had buzz back in March, but it was pretty much gone by June. Great performance.

Another Amy Adams win!
I didn't even need to click on the thread who the SF critics picked as their Best Pic.

Hardly surprising that Brokeback should win in San Francisco

I also agree it's a great choice.
I hope he gets some more mentions.

I'm actually really surprised Reese is winning critics' awards, I expected her not to. This just serves to make her more of a fighting contender. Yay!
Another Amy Adams mention! I think she could very well be nominated.
Brokeback is insane. Has *any* other film won a Best Picture award besides that yet?

Well, it needs as many as possible in order to show itself as a good film that deserves to win, not just as a gay watershed that is being awarded just because its making history or whatnot.

I would bet money on Amy Adams getting a BSA nom at the Oscars now. Really.
Good Night, and Good Luck for Best Picture, Brokeback Mountain for Best Picture/Director/Actor, Amy Adams for BSA, Walk the Line for Best Actor/Actress and Capote for Best Actor are 100% certified locks now.

I really didn't expect to find someone on the boards who'd be more anti-Brokeback Mountain than me, hehe.
Honestly, I think Ang Lee will win Best Director. But I'd be happy if he didn't.

Ang Lee is just so...boring and predictable.

*sigh*
Sense and Sensibility, Eat Drink Man Woman, The Hulk, Brokeback Mountain, Crouching Tiger.
Yep! He really makes the same movie over and over again.

Never said that he makes the same movie. He just makes consistently boring movies, singlehandedly wrecking a possible franchise in the process.

I actually do like Sense and Sesibility. Good adaptation. It went a bit downhill from there. It is not that he is bad, it is just that because of him there won't be a hUlk franchise anytime soon. Also his The Ice Storm was mediocre/bad to the point that it angered me and movies rarely ever do that. And I perceived his acclaim for CTHD as so so so undeserved, words can't experess it.

It was only good because the source material (Jane Austen novel) is darn near impossible to screw up and often makes for great films (Pride & Prejudice).

You expected him to make Sense and Sensibility 2: Country Girls Go Wild?

I guess you haven't seen his trilogy of Wedding Banquet, Pushing Hand, or Eat Drink Man Woman. Ice Storm is slow, and I didn't like it very much, but Ang's overall filmography is as diverse as it gets.

One more diversity point for Ang: Ride With The Devil.

He and Malick are the definition of pretentious (which means that Dolce likely loves their films ). CTHD is a piece of cliched crap masquerading as art. "Just because the tablecloth is nice, doesn't mean the meal was any good."
With The Ice Storm Lee focused more on getting the period details right, failing to tell anything resembling an interesting story.
The Hulk - The less said about this so-called action drama the better. It puports to have depth yet everything is only skin deep at best.
