I wouldn't call it a teaser trailer. The TEASER was going to be released with The Fantastic Four but was ditched (understandably too). This is the first of at least two, but probably three trailers being released. Expect the next one around late February - early March, and maybe one more in very late April/early May.

Well, they are calling it a teaser trailer too, so...
Or the apple page actually calls it the Announcement Teaser.

Yeah, but they called the first Jarhead trailer a teaser too. There's two definitions really. The teasers that are like 1 minute long and barely show any real footage are more rare and only occasionally used. The main "teasers" are the ones that are closer to 1 minute 45 seconds long and have very little dialogue. Often time they're just the entire trailer, or at least the one that's shown the most.

Yeah, but when coming to those longer teasers it is usually a matter of definition what is a trailer and what is a teaser. Some final trailers have little dialogue as well.
The "perfect" teasers are the melting T-teaser of Terminator 3, or the very first one of Hannibal, or the very first one of Hulk.

Hehe yeah, the final final trailer for The Day After Tommorrow had two lines of dialogue total in it. Maybe that's why that that one made the movie look so good. I think when done right, the brief brief teasers can be done great (such as the examples you listed, although I'd also add in Solaris). However, often times they just feel completely unnessecary and rather cheap to me, as if they just rushed a teaser for the sake of it.

Oh my god. Thank you.
You're right, Colossus looks friggin wicked. I also really like how they portray Cyclops and Jean Grey.... hints at what's gonna happen in the movie, I believe.
This'll surely outgross X2.

Agreed. Hopefully it comes even close to X2 caliber. The only thing that really worries me is the screenplay and a possible overload of characters. But my hopes have been rising since the teaser was released.

I also think it is still the best trailer for any 2006 release. Really puts Superman's teaser to shame.

Was it just me, or did Poseidon have a very generic trailer?
I agree with Arthur.

Poseidon looks really generic and DAT had a much more exciting trailer to boot. Poseidon's is about on the same level as The Perfect Storm with the difference that when The Perfect Storm came around, I haven't sen waves like that done on the big screen before, this time I have the "been there seen that" feeling.

Of course it depends on the reviews....I'm hoping Ratner can pull one off.
If it's good:
$68m/$225m

But you all don't understand. I love spectacle, and disaster movies are my all time second favorite sub-genre of film (the first being creature features)

Opening 95 million
Final 235 million
If Bret Ratner is able to get X-3 past 200 million, it would bold well for the future of Rush Hour 3. His stock would go up thus helping Rush Hour 3' potential

So it's a different actor for Pyro, right? I heard he didn't want to come back for some reason. He was really good, so it's kinda sad.
Oh, and is Nightcrawler not even in this one? That kinda sucks for me, since he was like my favorite character.

Nop. It's the same actor! It definitely sucks about Nightcrawler. Can't see why they wouldn't write him in this one. He was so cool.

This is obviously highly anticipated, but the BO is pretty predictable.

X-3 is going to be a beast, I would be surprised to see it open with less than 100m.
