I also think this is the best film of the year. Amazing. I'll watch it again soon...see how it holds up.

I agree. I thought the scene of Harry's return from the Graveyard as a whole was handled well. tina_als_girl said something about how protective Harry was over the body. But it wasn't until Mr. Diggory came down screaming "That's my boy...!!!" Ah. Shivers up my spine.

And I even had a Keanu moment when I saw the shot with the stained glass. "...whoa....." Brilliant shot IMO.

i liked it, it was fun, very entertaining at time and pretty funny. The effects were outstanding!

but it was soooOOoO long, i know all the potter movies are this long, but this was the first time i saw a HP film in theaters, so i got really bored....and my head hurt, so i didnt enjoyade it very well. Ill see it again when its out on DVD

One thing that bothered me about this one was the lack of magic by the 3 lead kids. I don't thnk Ron or Hermie did any magic and Harry's were copy jobs of past movies. Yes, this movie offered some other things but I would have liked them to have done more.

Even the 3 tasks

- the dragon - seemed very similar to past movie where Harry was being chased on his broom.

- the water scenes - blah - except at the very end when Harry was trapped. Even the way that they gave seconds to the others.

- the last one with forest closing in on them - pretty boring - yes the forst keep on closing in on them.

and even the fight scene with Lord Valt - similiar to past movies.

I don't think that there was a lot of magic being used by the kids. Mostly by Harry during the task. One thing though. Since you haven't read the book, during the third task, there were actually monster and creatures that harry fought against. So that is the only thing that was missing(when he uses magic wise)

I cried at that bit too!

Film: Harry Potter seems to be the only kids movie that can actually keep kids from crying in it. It's absolutely wonderful knowing their minds aren't wandering off and getting distracted. Anyway, the film I thought was very well done. I did not like the change in how the signature HP music was done in the opening but it was a new director's vision. The kids are all growing really well into their roles even though this film was very focused on HP and less on Ron and Hermione than the past films. Also, I thought this film was more of a test to the casual viewer since if you didn't read the past book or saw the last film you are probably going to be Very lost whereas the past films seemed to reaquaint the audience with HP and the gang. I thought the acting was very well done and the peppering of comedic lines or elements throughout the film was excellent as well. The movie kept me very glued to the screen especially after HP and Vold meet up for the first time. Since I did not take the time to read GoF I was very surprised by who was who and who was involved with what even though one character they essentially showed his allegiance onscreen around 1/2 way through. IMO, the audience enjoyed this movie and it got healthy applause at the end.

Goblet was the first movie ever in theaters where I saw some people clapping at the end.

Hmm, I saw it at a midnight showing and even then there was no applause, strangely enough...

I had applause when Peter kissed Mary-Jane at the end of Spider-Man, huge applause after Sin City, applause after ROTK and appause after The Big White and The Descent, but the latter two were seen by genre fans at a festival, so that doesn't count.

I endure clapping quite often. It depends a lot on what market you live in.

Something felt slightly off in this film. I can't quite put my finger on it. Still, a strong A. I just wished I wasn't so confused most of the time. I need to read the books, though I hate that argument.

Awesome movie and it strengthens a bit with a second viewing. A few of the plot holes were weird (Not stuff they completely cut out, but stuff that happened but they didn't explain), like priori incantatem, why Krum attacked Fleur, who killed Crouch, how Barty Jr. got out of Azkaban nad then met up with Voldemort, but they weren't too bad. The acting from the adults was brilliant. Brenden Gleeson, Ralph Fiennes, Miranda Richardson and Michael Gambon were the best; Maggie Smieth, Robbie Coltrane, Alan Rickman, Frances de la Tour, Predrag Bjelac, Timothy Spall, etc. were all very good also. When it was over, I felt like I had been there only an hour or so, something that shocked me. Overall, excellent, excellent movie.

The more I think about Goblet, the more I love it. What an awesome movie!

I need to watch it again. Not that I disliked it, no not at all. I just didn't understand many key points such as Ron's degree of anger towards Harry. It's clear now to everyone in the story that things are in motion beyond Harry's control, so there's no reason for Ron not to have believed him.

Also, was Cedric in the last film? He was such a important character this time, and I had no idea who he was.

No, Cedric is only in Goblet.

I see....

The opening scene suggested that he and his father were fairly close to Ron's family, yet they're unseen in any prior films.

Can anyone clarify the Ron/Harry fight, was there something in the book?
