So I bought the DVDs over the weekend, I watched the pilot last night. A couple thoughts:

a) Does anybody else find it weird that Jack wakes up alone, if the middle of thick jungle, about 20 seconds of full-sprint forward and 10 seconds full-sprint to the left from the beach? Hmm...

b) When he wakes up, there is a white shoe dangling from a tree beside him. They focus on it for 2 seconds or so, to make it seem important. But as far as I can tell they do not go back to that detail at all.

Also, does anyone else find it odd that Goodwin found not only a pair of shoes that fit quickly after the crash, BUT also some dry socks. Hmmm.... also his clothes are not torn and tattered like those of the Others. Seems like there were no suitcases with this group like with Jack's group. Were there other sections of the plane besides the tail part with dead people that fell into the jungle besides Bernard?

I find the first point very weird because he apparently crashed on solid ground and yet didn't break anything.

I watched that scene again just now, it looked consistent with the agent x link theory above. I don't fully believe that theory but it's the best wild-guess I've seen so far.

I found it odd that Jack just happened to have a bottle of alcohol on him, perfect for sterilizing things which he'd need to do upon waking up.

I'm also wondering if Kate's question to Charlie of have they ever met before, was more than just her remembering drive shaft.

I finally read that link. The theory has some good points, but I don't agree with it either. Some stuff seems a little too far fetched. Also, it doesn't explain "The others" at all, unless I missed something.

Just watched the latest episode on i-Tunes.

I thought it was okay. Summing up each fo the first few days in less than 1 minute each was kind of a drag and buzzkill, but it started forming into a good episode.

I did not like the music and kinda slow-mo action when they found Sawyer and Micheal and leading up to the end fo the episode, but whatever...

I haven't seen a single preview for the next episode, so I'm wondering what exactly it's about. I got some understanding from what you guys were all talking about, but I'll just have to see myself.

Two thing I gained from watching this episode. (Well, maybe 'gained' is not the right word.)

1- I think Ana-Lucia is a potentially great character if they don't ruin it. People don't like her bitchiness but you really think out of all those random people, one fo them wouldn't really be like her? She's one of the most grounded characters yet.

2- It becomes more evident that there is some masterful planning behind this show. I forgot what detail it was (don't think it was the radio transmission with Boone) that led me to conclude they were planning on exploring more plane-crash survivors from around mid-season last year. Really makes you wonder exactly how much of the "details" they have sketched out for the series as a whole, since they obviously know or have come up with an end-game.

And to note on the Kate-Jack-Ana-Sawyer love square....

I would really love it if Kate and Jack didn't end up together. I think Kate and Sawyer are perfect for each other but not as a long-term relationship. They are the most compatible but their relationship should have some drastic and devastating event later on... I just can't seem them all lovey-dovey, but they attract each other the most.

Jack and Anna definitely don't go. I think they make a good connection as in Jack will have a "man of science" companion. More of a reliable ally than Kate. Then again, Ana doesn't look the type to form long-term alliances; she's too suspicious and skeptical of everything and everyone.

IT's weird how my fascination with the show kind of died down exactly the same time it died down last year.
LAst year I was captivated by the first few hours and kept watching through November but was getting kind of impatient or just maybe bored with it when the holiday hiatus arrived. Over the break, I lent my recorded tapes to my best friend and she became an immediate Lost-nut and coun't wait for the new episodes to begin. And I was overly hyped for the return of Alias making Wednesday nights the Lost-Alias duo, so I REALLY got into it again. From then on Alias kept fading and Lost came into clear focus. By the end of episode 2.01 I was classified a an obsessive-compulsive Lost fan.

Now, it's sort of dying down or mellowing out. It may also have something to do with the fact that I've only watched 1 episode the night it aired. I've had school and work scheduled just about every Wednesday which kind of kills the momentum or the thrill of watching it as it unravels and impatiently waiting for commercials to end.

Anywho.... still th best show on TV!

I agree on all these comments above. My interest is definitely not as high right now as it used to be last season. Then again, I saw 20 episodes within four weeks last season, that was a good way to keep myself excited all the time. This time it is different. The very beginning of the Season 2 pilot, with Desmond waking up in the hatch up until the Lost logo comes on is still the very best part of the second season to date.

Actually, I'm thinking my feelings are still a bit different from yours. My obsession or fondness of the show definitely peaked in the beginning of Season 2... I'm just having a hard time coping with filler episodes (ironically, I argued alot on how people will be expecting too much and should get used to alot of nothing happening). Part of my problem also comes from the fact that they try to make every episode look like a huge event and that makes the not-so-important- episodes look bad or empty.

Just treat it like any other show. Don't let the viewers see that you are putting so much of your hope into this show!

I thought the second season was brilliant the first few episodes with all the hatch and stuff. But after that it all kind of died down...

The Desmond opening of the season remains one of the best scenes for the series as does the big JAck-Locke payoff in episode 3 ("Why is it so hard for you to believe..." "...it's never been easy.")

I didn't really care for the episode. I'm certain the extra four minutes were the black screens showing the days, all added up. There was nothing to grasp on to in the episode. They went too quickly from scene to scene. And the longest scene between Ana-Lucia and Goodwin didn't do it for me.

I also don't understand why some suddenly like Ana-Lucia. What added to her character? Her little cry? Jack does that, everyone complains. There's just nothing they can do for me to like her, and I know I'm not alone. I want Sayid to torture her, damn it. That'll give her character something to chew on for a while.

So between the black screens and the flashbacks from the season so far, that pretty much adds up to the four minutes. And it still didn't help "Invasion"!

Coming up next week on Lost: A 42-minute recap of the first 30 episodes, followed by a slow-motion flashback leading up to Shannon's death. Don't miss it! Watch Invasion! Only on ABC.

Another Ana Lucia episode tonight. I just can't get me enough of that Ana Lucia.

So anyone want to take a guess at what she used to be? I am guessing she was a sergeant in the army, given her knowledge of military knives, her desire to be in control, her comfort level with guns.

Some screen shots have shown her as a cop.

Yeah I saw those but you never know, she might have been an actress playing a cop. Or a cop who quits and gets another job, etc. So I ignored them.

I don't know if I can take this much Ana Lucia in two weeks. If she would can the "I don't care about anything, but I secretly cry to myself when it gets real rough" attitude, I might tolerate her.

I wonder what Kate did (tune in next week). $100 bucks says it somehow relates to the island and/or the other survivors.

She just pouts and glares too much.

I think part of the problem is she gives off a strong urban vibe and that is just not in synch with the feel of the show. That's not any comment about races, by the way, the show is very multi racial and all. It would be the same if it was some young al pacino type urban white guy, it just doesn't fit what we've come to like about the tone of the show.

[/overly analytical]

I find Jack on his worst, bitchy days is very similar to Ana Lucia. It seems they're both stubborn at times. It's either their way or no way at all. Do I smell a romance blossoming?

I HATE HER! Ugh. I actually screamed outloud during the commercial due to my hatred from her. I want to jump through the TV and strangle her. I've never felt this much ahte for a TV character before. It makes me want to stop watching because I just really, really can't stand her.

I don't think Jack is like Ana-Lucia. He can be stubborn at times, but he's not unwilling to compromise. And he isn't irrational in the ways she is. And while he can have his mood swings, her bad mood and attitude is permanent.

If they make them get together, I think I might stop watching the show all together. She doesn't deserve him or anybody else on the damn Island.

I liked the reunions at the end -- Vincent and Michael, Bernard and Rose, Jin and Sun. I liked the Jack-related scenes, minus the last one with Ana-Lucia. I hated everything related to Ana-Lucoa.

I liked the episode as well. The flashbacks could have had some more spunk to them, but meh. No one's really interested in Ana because she's selfish and rude. I don't hate her myself, she's OK.

I would have thought the reunion would have been sadder. The people returned from the raft that was meant to get them all rescued. Maybe people are just starting to like the island.

Oh. And if seeing Ana-Lucia gun down that man in the alley was supposed to make me like her at all... it didn't. It's like the producers/writers whoever want us to hate her.
