No comment on the link then? I didn't "make it up" like you seem to think I do.

I don't know what comment you're looking for? That Elvis and the Beatles are bigger than Johnny Cash? Sure they are. That has nothing to do with this film being able to gross 100 million, and you have publicly said you want it to fail, and the mass NA audience doesn't take such things into consideration when they are putting down their dollars at the ticket office.

"Joe, seriously, your bias has already killed you in this conversation. I'll bet you didn't know that Johnny Cash was the first person ever inducted into both the Rock 'N' Roll hall of fame and Country Hall of Fame. Elvis was inducted years after his death."

By that statement it sure seemed like you were trying to say that Cash is more popular than Elvis when it has zero effect on when they were inducted into the Hall of Fame as to their popularity.

No. But Elvis movies could do well if they take them seriously.

It all depends on the quality of the production.

You are right, Cash is not the biggest draw by himself, but the combination of a (apparently) quality production, quality actors and correct studio push can work wonders.

In fact, this Walk the Line stuff seems to be having a huge effect on Cash music at the moment.

Joe, for somebody to get inducted into both say A LOT about their cross over appeal and popularity, and if you are going to argue music history with me, bring it on.

Nope, don't feel it's worth the time for anyone.

Well it doesn't really count but we have Jared Leto playing his killer next year.

They'll probably manage to present the guy as a victim himself so that people would sympathize with him, heh.

Chapman's story is easier to get access to probably.

I'm intrigued by that film. As long as Chapman won't profit (and I think he can't?) then I see no problem with that exploration.

The Rose is to Janis Joplin what Velvet Goldmine is to David Bowie as what Last Days is to Kurt Cobain.

BTW, Last Days is a REALLY shitty movie.

Well, this one has already been filmed, and I can't wait til it's released. I'm a big Rolling Stones fan, and I side with Mick and Kieth in thinking Brian Jones was a dick, and the mystery surrounding his death has never been solved.

He was jealous of Mick and Kieth's obvious superior talent and it shattered his confidence and he turned to drugs. Rumors have even had it that Mick Jagger was seen leaving Jones' house on the night he drowned in his pool.

I don't see that being released that publicly. I doubt a movie about Brian Jones could be a hit. Probably like a 30 theatres opening.

Granted, there are only few votes, but still, doesn't look good:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0426627/

Apparently it opens in UK this Friday.

I thought The Rose was really good. Bette Midler was, at least.

My specialty theater gets a lot of those small releases, so if not there, on video.
