In.

Walk the Line will make over $600m, as horny male teenagers will see the film every day for Reese Witherspoon like the females did for DiCaprio back in '97.

(I'm serious about it crossing $100m tho)

Well I'm still out.

As a side fact, Walk the Line right now stands at a flat 80% on RT. It could go down even more, but time will only tell.

After seeing it tonight I am even more sure of my prediction. This is going to be a huge crowd-pleaser and should EASILY cross 100 Million. It could do even more.

Yeah, I closed the polls at midnight, so you're out even if you changed your mind.

And no, it's at 82%, and they haven't added any of the reviews from the top critics who are praising the movie. Only Richard Roeper is included right now.

I'm pumped for this film. But I don't see it reaching 100 Million UNLESS it gets Best Picture.

The crowd pleasing aspect is something being underestimated. Torrino joined the club right after he'd seen it, and I'd say that factor played into it.

20th Century Fox continues with their brilliant marketing this year, as I just saw THE most impressive TV spot for Walk the Line that I've seen yet.

Also, where most actors have to rely on the talk show circuit to promote their films, Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon have had the supreme advantage of presenting at the ratings winning CMA awards last night, as well as co-hosting the Johnny Cash tribute special that was on CBS tonight.

The stars have all aligned, and I think that even those who were doubting this film's potential before can see exactly what the supporters in this thread have been talking about all along.

2961 theaters.

For the record, I think it'll miss 100 mil not in the opening, but in the legs. Even with a 24 mil opening(which I don't think it'll get anyways) it will still have a struggle I believe. This winter is wayyyy too crowded.

Agreed. Also, it's not like Johnny Cash was Elvis or anything. Speaking of which, why have there only been TV movies about "The King of Rock and Roll" when it's so obvious that a feature film, if done right, would make loads of money. Elvis is still considered one of the most, if the, most popular musician of all time.

Joe, seriously, your bias has already killed you in this conversation. I'll bet you didn't know that Johnny Cash was the first person ever inducted into both the Rock 'N' Roll hall of fame and Country Hall of Fame. Elvis was inducted years after his death.

Like I said, you are just looking for negative stuff to say, that's clear...

Shack, seriously, knock off your argumentative comments or stay out of this thread. When my bias effects my box office predictions like it has yours, you can HA me all you want.

Then how come Elvis is number one on the list? You're not going to win when you dispute the popularity of Elvis.

So you're saying you don't bias your predicts?

It's him, as he sits there waiting to say something negative.

I am not surprised that he would run to your defense, as he makes things up, too, and tries to pass them off as facts.

Regardless, when my "bias" effects my predictions like it has for every prediction he makes, he can HA! me all he wants to.

My predictions are very objective and I look at demographics that I don't belong to when I make them , too.

No comment on the link then? I didn't "make it up" like you seem to think I do.

You predict high for every movie you're anticipating(WTL, Fantastic Four, Derailed), and low on movies you're against(Doom).

I don't know what comment you're looking for? That Elvis and the Beatles are bigger than Johnny Cash? Sure they are. That has nothing to do with this film being able to gross 100 million, and you have publicly said you want it to fail, and the mass NA audience doesn't take such things into consideration when they are putting down their dollars at the ticket office.

I just bought this new CD today... The Legend of Johnny Cash.

01 Cry! Cry! Cry!
02 Hey Porter
03 Folsom Prison Blues
04 I Walk the Line
05 Get Rhythm
06 Big River
07 Guess Things Happen That Way
08 Ring of Fire
09 Jackson
10 A Boy Named Sue (live)
11 Sunday Morning Coming Down
12 Man in Black
13 One Piece At A Time
14 Highwayman
15 The Wanderer
16 Delia's Gone
17 Rusty Cage
18 I've Been Everywhere
19 Give My Love to Rose
20 The Man Comes Around
21 Hurt

And I have to say... I really wanted a retrospective that went from Folsom Prison to Hurt and included some of his amazing American Recordings songs and this is a FANTASTIC single disk if anybody wants a taste. It's the first greatest hits collection to go from 1955 to 2003.

The ONLY negative is The Man Comes Around is a very great demo version but it is not the neu-classic that is used on the Dawn of the Dead pre-credits sequence.

Although you can always download that version from iTunes or buy American IV

Uh...again, Shack wants to make up his facts. I was less than 4 million high on FF. WTL hasn't even come out yet, and I'm at 22 million. Sin City and Sith were much MUCH higher anticipated than Derailed, and everybody here knows it, and I was low on both compared to what they did.

Get your facts straight, and please stop looking for excuses to argue. I'm done talking to you for the night.

I meant highs and lows as in high predictions and low predictions before the movie comes out, I wasn't talking about how close you were.
