haha... I wasn't expecting to see this, so it surprised me, too.
Thanks, loyal and the rest of the guys at WOKJ, I'll be counting on you guys as well as some of the members here to form a strong awards community, and hopefully we'll be able to draw more of those members who aren't into box office stuff. I think the awards season predicting is even more fun (or just as fun) than the box office stuff, because there are so many ways things can go, and unlike box office, there are no guarantees until the movie is actually viewed.
You know, you dream of being a Czar when you're a little boy, but until you actually see those words in text, you can't quite grasp the flavor of what it feels like. A Czar!
I'll try to do the site proud and get a few things right along the way.

Maverikk is certainly a choice that is well versed about Oscar contenders, but shouldn't we promote somebody to head things such as "roundtable discussions" to somebody that gets along with the bulk of the members? I can confidently say that there is a large number of users here that would not be comfortable participating in a program led by him, due to his past conduct. There are those who can not discuss things with him without fear of causing a fight. And, there are even those that he has asked not to respond to him anymore in normal conversation.
Again... while he is arguably a good choice for articles and such, I think things that require community participation would be better left to those that have not been warned about their conduct lately and get along with the majority of members - so that they feel welcome to join in on discussions.
It seems like the powers that be at the site are setting things up for a disaster with something like this.

Can somebody BAN the above troublemaker already? His act is really old. He's always whining about something, and if he really had the best interests of the forum in mind, like his phoney grandstanding pretends to, perhaps he would actually contribute something, but he doesn't seem to want to be bothered doing anything here but complain. Pretty useless, if you ask me.

Well, I'd like to thank you for speaking on his behalf, as that's all the discrediting anybody ever needs.

I sent this in response to Mav, but I feel it also needs to be posted here:
Quote: There is nothing wrong with Tony's response. He has a concern, and I'd say it's legitimate. Suggesting to ban him in response does not spread any goodwill, and no such action would be taken regardless.
Maverikk, it's great that you're going to be taking such an active role on the website, but it doesn't help anyone when fights get started over nothing.

I would like it noted that I in no way personally insulted Maverikk, and even complimented his Oscar knowledge. I merely stated the fact that there are a large group of members that can not have a discussion with him without it resulting into a fight in which WE get very personal insults (see above). There are also members that he has specifically asked not to talk to him or PM him. This is not conducive to a community discussion group.
I look forward to seeing Maverikk's articles and such, but would not feel comfortable participating in a group led by him (see above post from Maverikk). I feel confident there are a large number of respected posters that feel the same way. I only ask that the powers here at KJ consider this in making a decision.

Well, I'll put it to you like this, Krem. Tony has no concern. Tony is a troublemaker. I'm not in the business of trying to spread goodwill in the name of a troublemaker. Does he actually believe that he or anybody I've ever had problems with has the knowledge to be on any roundtable discussions about the Oscars?
Also, I do get along with the majority of the members here, and I definitely get along with those who do more than just waste space, such as Tony who doesn't extend his concerns to actually contribute anything here.

Maverikk, there is no reason to insult members of the forum. Nobody is "wasting space" here, let's just leave it at that.

Did you somehow think you would be asked? There are several people who are very knowledgeable about the Oscars here, and you are not one. In fact, Mr. concerned, you don't even post, but decided to grandstand. I get along great with the people in this forum who would be asked, so lay your worries to rest, you're not on the short list.

For the record, I'm not even against Mav's Czar status or whatever. Reading the articles and individual analysis and such will be great.
...But you're the most flaming and argumentative person here.

He's a waste of space. I'm entitled to my opinion. If what he's doing isn't an insult, neither is what I'm doing.

What Tony's doing and what you're doing are NOT the same thing. He provided a reasonable concern that you could try to address. You decided to respond by calling him "a waste of space" instead.

For the record, all knowledgeable contributers in this Oscar forum, you know, the only people who would ever be asked to be involved in anything, are the members here that I get along great with. Did somebody think this was a Water Cooler clique or something?

While this is not the language I would use, this is definitely better than calling Tony a "waste of space" and calling on admins to ban him.
