 The Warriors
The Warriors Quote: The Warriors is a 1979 American cult action/thriller film directed by Walter Hill and based on Sol Yurick's 1965 novel of the same name. Like the novel, the film borrows elements from the Anabasis by Xenophon.

a gritty look at gangs in 1970's new york city. all the gangs in the new york city are gathered at a meeting organized by the biggest gang in the area. they want to unite all the gangs and take over the city. their leader cyrus is shot and the warriors are blamed for the killing. now they have to make it across the city to their home turf, going through the turf of numerous gangs in the process. while this movie is outdated, it still is fun and violent.

David Patrick Kelly was the best worm like character in movie history next to Peter Lorre. I was glad to see him turn up in The Longest Yard this summer.

I have finally seen this cult film and while I liked it a lot, I couldn't help, but think how much more it could have been. It serves as a good portrayal of gangs rivaly in NYC of the 70s and delivers some nice action bits. The story is very interesting to follow. Sadly the characters are not estabilished well at all, but I can look past that. What really bothered me a lot was the extremyl anti-climatic ending of the film. There is just such a big build-up to it, only to end up as a lame letdown- Other than that, it's a very solid and gritty film.
