Well, that is going to be tough. I'll try and walk you through it. PM me later tonight when you are ready, ok?

Dolce isn't exactly computer savvy.

We give her lots of cookies and wine to pretend she is though. ;)

No! Come on people. How many of y'all know how to link access databases. I simply meant I want a secure site to download from where I don't get any *gifts* along with the file, and what I have to do for subtitles since it seems there are variations on the download file, etc.

Now, what I meant to say when asking about which is most appropriate, is *not* which will scare me the most. I'm interested in two things, and two things only, and I will overcome my fear of horror flicks to watch them. 1. Japanese fear of a technological breakdown, etc, or 2. Young women's puberty/sexuality in horror. Especially the second one, which I've read some articles on and want to look into. So, that is why I was leaning towards Two Sisters. If Shutter has to do with these topics I will watch it. It it just has to do with the lense being able to catch images too fleating for the human eye, Photographing Fairies was more than enough.

If there's one that's even more appropriate, let me know.

Thanks guys!

I wouldn't even go through the trouble of downloading it, regardless of quality. Besides being illegal, it really IS quite a chore. Download and install a torrent program (or perhaps limewire or some other P2P thing), download the torrent (or file), and sometimes you DO have to download the subs seperately and install them, which sometimes requires extra codecs. And you're taking up a couple gigs of space usually. Something personally I dont have room to give up. And the quality isn't usually great. And it takes like 10 hours usually of constant downloading, which in my experience slows down everything else. Admittedly, my knowledge of all this is quite limited, and my computer is not the best, but it just doesnt seem worth it.

So, if you can easily get a legal dvd copy of Two Sisters, I'd just say go for it. I've heard lots of good stuff about that film anyway.

Well, you're truly an armateur of downloading then.

It takes up less than 1 GB. Usually the quality is perfect. I don't have a great internet connection and it takes me 10 hours, otherwise it can be done much faster. Also, when I watch the file, I usually burn it on a CD delete it from my computer, thereby making space free again.

Shutter has a US DVD title "Shutter: They Are Around Us" and we're only 6 months past it's US premiere. I'm never one to recommend downloading anything so I would wait. It *is* coming, however.

I am not a big fan of downloading either (and I actually saw Shutter in theatres), but in six months the festival is over, so...

Also, I couldn't find an US release date for it...

I know I'm an amateur at it. I said so myself...but I HAVE done it before, and those are my experiences. But I dunno, maybe you could walk dolce through it easily enough to make it worth it. I just figure if she can get the dvd of A Tale of Two Sisters, it'd probably be better. I've never seen a dvd torrent under a gig, btw. Image

Hm, the vast majority is well under, actually. I think I have downloaded a total of four torrents in my life, but I go to those sites out of curiousity and usually it's well under 1 GB, otherwise I wouldn't bother either. It's also not that I don't have anything against "Two Sisters", it's just that I can't imagine it being scarier than Shutter and I want everyone to get to see that movie since it's just amazing, heh.

Hmmm, does Shutter cover one of the two topics I kind of want to expose myself to? Just wondering. I've heard so much, i'll probably still try and see it, but it might fall outside of the two week festival if I'm stressed for time and want to see another one first.

No, Dolce it doesn't cover those two topics but it also isn't about things too fleeting for the eye. It is so hard to explain.

If you are leaning toward two sisters then go ahead and see that. Or even rent Dark Water (the Japanese version) and participate in our forthcoming discussion on it. ;)

If it is released in 6 months, that is close to the time when I'm going to be in NYC. ;) (hint hint)...

It does cover the second topic in a way, but I can't post it without spoiling it...just think the hidden photos.

True, Shutter is a Thai flick and it is very horrifying, in fact one of the scariest movies I have ever seen.

In other news, I have seen A Tale of Two Sisters. It didn't quite live up to its image of one of the scariest movies ever made, but nonetheless it was an interesting picture with many twists that all worked very well and a couple of the most suspenseful scenes I have seen in a while. More on it later, but I would certainly recommend it to anyone. Feel free to rent it, Dolce! ;)

Just like the remake released earlier this year, Dark Water is not particulary scary like Ju-On/The Grudge were - it's creepy and above all - it's manages to be a powerful drama. The ghost story is there, yes, but it's basically there to move the main plot (which is about a mother fighting for her daughter and trying to decide what's best for her...). I seem to be one of the few who thinks that the remake is every bit as good as the original.. and Jennifer Connelly is terrific, as usual... B+

(I still need to see Ringu..)

it is indeed that Shutter is one of the scariest that've been ever made. and i am expecting more to see thai horror flick in the future. they had a great idea about how to make a horror movie.

about A Tale Of Two Sister, i also got the DVD, and i haven't finished watching yet. only finish half. was it good, Lecter?
