 National Lampoon's Van Wilder
National Lampoon's Van Wilder Quote: National Lampoon's Van Wilder is a 2002 comedy film directed by Walt Becker that stars Ryan Reynolds as the main character. The film also stars Kal Penn, Tara Reid, and Daniel Cosgrove. It features Sophia Bush's acting debut. The movie is based on Bert Kreischer. Pretty funny.

Horrible. Ryan Reynolds is too smarmy and Tara Reid is unbearably awful. D-

Funny, but not overly great. Toj(Kal Penn) is pretty awesome, but Tara Reid is horrible enough to balance it out.

My sister-in-law in Iowa loves it.
Knowing her taste in movies, I will have to grade it a F, even though I have not seen this movie.

I am a fan of well-made and funny gross-out teen comedies. National Lampoon's Van Wilder isn't one of them. I love the American Pie series, Road Trip was good and I liked the first Scary Movie as well. Van Wilder was not only a pretty stupid idea in concept (which doesn't necessarily mean that it's a bad thing), but generally a pretty bad movie overall. It suffers under the same problems that already plagued Scary Movie 2, Dude, where is my car? and some Adam Sandler films - it is just not funny for a comedy and what is the worst thing that can happen to a comdey? It's lack of good humor.
As mentioned above, Tara Reid is beyond terrible in this one. Ryan Reynolds is pretty decent and actually charming at times, but most of the time he is just not funny. The highlight of the movie is probably Kal Penn's portrayal of the inept Taj, but that is about it. I'm glad this one wasn't too successful, so were were spared from a possible sequel.

This film had more disgusting scenes than funny, I felt sicker after seeing Van wilder than any horror or gorey film.. Some of the scenes were so grose I had to look away from the screen . This is a truly Disturbing film

I love it...
But yeah... Tara Reid sucked in it... as usual.
But Ryan Reynolds is a god.

I love Ryan Reynolds Chevy Chase, Bill Murrayian style of delivery. It nice and subtle and has a good kick to it Another 10 years and I think he will be that type of great leading man. That being said the movie pretty much sucks, such a bad plotline, but is still pretty funny (Shitting in the trashcan was hysterical, his scream haunts me)
Apart from Tara Reid being hot shed just a cracked out bitch that cant act. It was funny seeing Booger and the guy from the Breakfast club, but its certainly not this generations Animal House
B (Only for Reynolds)

Well, those were the times when only successful films got sequels. Now even Into the Blue gets one.
