The Chocolate War (1987) -- B

I had to watch it for an ethics class I am taking. I thought it was pretty good, especially Peter Gabriel's music, which on the surface would seem somewhat out of place for this kind of movie, but it actually works pretty nicely here.

Ah, Peter Gabriel. He is my favorite singer.I never knew he did this soundtrack. He has done so many soundtracks that it is hard to keep up.

UGH! I tried to watch MERCI DOCTEUR REY but I couldn't get the subtitles to work no matter what! I kept messing around with it but they just wouldn't work. After having read what one IMDB user said about seeing it at a film festival and the French dialogue not having subtitles there because the director purposefully wanted it that way I'm wondering if maybe that's why I couldn't get the subtitles on the DVD to work? Is it supposed to be this way or something? If so then fuck it! I don't know French! I want to but I don't! It's not fair to even let Americans see the damn thing without subtitles! I guess I have to return this to the video store without watching it then.

I did watch THE GIRL IN THE CAFE though and I thought it was interesting and had a good message about poverty and about government actually deciding to make a difference. A solid film! 7/10 ( B )

Shutter A Easily one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. It twists the genre on it's head to make the somewhat overused ghost with black long hair into a genuinely terrifying prescence. And that ending... man oh man. A MUST see for any horror fan, or anyone even slightly frightened by The Ring or The Grudge.

Layer Cake - C

Not necessarly bad, but all in all it wasn't worth watching.

The Longest Yard - C

Meh. I'll admit it was mildly entertaining though.

Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo

I cant believe i actually wasted $2.50 on this :nonono: i went to see it with a big group of friends from school, some of us including myself wanted to see Red Eye, but the mayority wanted Duece 2  so yeah i saw it....

Anyways, yeah the movie sucked and to make matters worse it was edited to make it B15 (PG-13 but for 15 and older)

OMG it was awful, most of the “jokes” just failed misserably..... meh!! Mostly everything was stereotyping people and racial comments

Dead Man Walking- C+

The movie itself is nothing special, nothing close to like The Green Mile. What makes it required watch though is the performances by Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon, which are breathtaking. Penn I expected to be on that level as always, but surprisingly for me it was Sarandon who really stole the show. I came in completley disliking her, by the end she won me over. Was this the movie she won her Oscar for? The teacher(watched it in class) mentioned they both got nominated.

The Godfather -A+

Yes its good, not the greatest film of all time, but still an A+. One thing that puzzles me: How did Brando get recognition and later Oscar as the lead? He does a great job, but his character is not the lead character at all. Micheal/Al Pacino has wayy more screen-time and the story is based around him completley. Brando is shot and in the hospital for an hour and a half, and dead from natural causes the last 30 minutes. And when he is active hes still not the lead, thats Al Pacino's character all throughout.

Sideways... again.

I didn't really think much of it when I saw it in theatres, but I do really admire the scene on the porch.
