Hmm Survivors start was 17.8 Million viewers; according to TVtracker; which is considerably down from last years 20 Million start and is def better news for fans of Smallville and Alias.

The O.C falls to 6.0 Million viewers. 1.4 million down from the debut and certainly down from last year considerably.
I think that Everybody Hates Chris could take off; theres alot of critical buzz about it.

But with The O.C it seems beginning to fizzle and Survivors lower start ; even if Chris takes off it looks like its not quite doomsday for Alias and Smallville yet.

Hm, not very good for Survivor and The O.C., but I think the 5-way head butt next week (Smallville doesn't premiere until the 29th) will hurt everything. My forecast for the 22nd:

1. Survivor - 17M
2. Joey/W&G - 8M
3. Alias - 7M
4. Everybody Hates Chris/Eve - 7M (Yes, EHC will be that big)
5. The O.C. - 6M
6. Smallville (R) - 2M

My fear is that CSI will kill any chance Reunion has of becoming a success. When does CSI premiere, by the way?

The OC has continued to fall. I wonder if this'll be the last season?

I doubt it, because The O.C. still garners huge ratings in the teenage demo, possibly more than most shows on network television.

I get the feeling that EHC is being really, really over-estimated; the clips and marketing material ive seen of it aren't that great. But then again it could be huge and my balls will be shot.

I think Alias starting with 7 Million viewers would be really dissapointing. It needs to kick off with at least 9 Million.

Joey will probobly be in its last year; and Will and Grace is also on its way out. So who knows how the hour will shape up? Aside from The OC'S trickling ratings and Survivor being down - theres not much more to be said right now.

By the way Alias dosent premiere until the 29th either. Which means it will have the second, third and fourth week ratings of most shows to contest with. Which makes more sense to me.

The O.C gets around 2.8-3.2 per episode from the 18-49s; which is the demographic advertisers look for. Thats not huge but in respect of its total figures it makes up a large portion. Teenagers have less of a dispensible income and therefore are less coveted by advertisers; so if the O.C slips bellow 5 Million viewers an episode; then it could be in trouble.

The OC still does better than anything else FOX can put on Thursday nights.

Thats true enough; how can they cancel something they cant best with replacements?

Actually; the same applies for ABC. I think that ABC is going to be pretty much the same as last year apart from returning shows, Desperate Housewives ratings are bound to increase; i think Greys Anatomy and Lost are looking for upward ratings spikes too.

New shows? They could have two megahits out of their entire lineup; the rest are looking at two seasons at best.

Remember the time when Fox pit the Simpsons against the Cosby show when the Cosby show has been number one weekly majority of the time. Simpsons still got great ratings and still came in 12th nationally on the weekly ratings.

If that happens, I would be dancing like your avatar. They seem to put these dumb Fox teen shows on a thursday night if anyone recalls Beverly Hills 90210

I think that's very good for Survivor. Considering it wasn't the actual premiere week and assuming the "last" survivor you guys are referring to debuted mid-season last year (I lost track of the survivors after like the 5th one, this is the 11th I believe).

I think that drop is pretty bad for The O.C. However, don't expect it to drop too much more because Survivor was it s biggest competition. Alias and the WB will make it a bit tougher and it could spen most of the season below 6.5 million viewers, but that would still be better, as everyone keeps saying, than anything else Fox puts on the air!

True, but what else can FOX put on Thursdays that will do Simpsons-like numbers from way back when? It's easy to say "They should put Simpsons/American Idol/House on Thursdays", but that leaves them with a great risk of ruining the show's previous home. The OC is doing what FOX expects right now. It's not a long-term solution, but it fits the bill right now. Plus, if Reunion can continue to duplicate OC's numbers (something I doubt will happen), then FOX would have a mediocre night as opposed to a usually horrible night for ratings.

I dislike The OC like most people here, but I'm just thinking unbiasedly. I'd be fine if OC was gone next season.

Id actually applaud if the O.C left next season, and ALL of its actors who have garnered undue praise for actually taking part in the least talent-challenging show in the history of network television, would fade away.

Seriously if i hear one more person tell me that Adam Brody is like, the best thing since vaginas, im going to hurt them in a serious way.

Amen.

And he's gonna win Best Actor in a Drama Emmy.

Like I said in the House thread, I will not be disappointed. He carries the show on his shoulders, and the show is already a great series without factoring in Laurie.
