Maverikk isn't the Oscars getting pushed to the first Sunday in March?

does anyone know if that's the last day for Sweeps month or if the telecast is out of the running to be in February Sweeps?

Not sure, but I like the March date better, considering they always used to have the Oscars in mid-to-late March, which gave the films more time to be seen by people.

Hmm... good question. I know they pushed it back so it won't have to compete with the Winter olympics telecast.

The Oscars are moved to March this year because the Closing Ceremony of the Olympics is on the Sunday the Oscars were to be held on.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but were SAG Award nom ballots and Golden Globe due on November 2nd?

Can't be that early. I think it's sometime around December 8th for Globe, as I read somewhere they are trying to get Munich screened in time for Hollywood Foreign Press. SAG's deadline should be even later.

Actually last week's Hollywood Reporter had a VERY comprehesnive 4 month calendar of every single ballot or mailing out or nominee announcement deadlines.

November 4 was the Golden Globes submission deadline
SAG deadline is Today by 5pm which passed...

However it says December 2, Golden Globe nomination ballots are mailed, so I don't know... maybe they can still vote for Munich...

Then again, the Hollywood Reporter also has ads from Universal for Munich (as well as Cinderella Man, Producers, and King Kong) screenings, the earliest of which I believe is in San Fransisco on the 14th of December.

It seems like maybe Oscar is the only thing Munich will be vying for if this all keeps up!

I think submission means the studio submit the names of the films to be eligible. It doesn't mean it has to be screened to the voters by now. Globe especially loves December releases in their past history. I'm very sure Munich, along with Memoirs and other December releases, is definitely going to be eligible for Globe.

Globe will probably vote for it anyway even if they haven't seen it, just as they did with Cold Mountain and Phantom of the Opera, only realizing later that they weren't getting the critical acclaims and the industry buzz that Globe members were expecting.

I've been a bit busy reshaping the schedule to make it better. This was the old schedule, and if you look at the first post, you'll see the new and improved schedule. I hope it makes it a bit easier to follow things during the upcoming events.

The NBR will be the first real sign concerning the Best Actress race and Allen's chances, among others. That race seems to be the most hotly contested one right now as to who is going to be nominated.

NBR is delayed until Monday, so L.A. will be the first one now.

Why do some of the organizations go so bloody early?? According to the ceremony dates posted here, several groups will be announcing their noms/winners before certain films even open or just barely after they open, like Memoirs of a Geisha, Brokeback Mountain, Munich, Kong, etc. That makes no sense to me.

PEACE, Mike.

All the films have already been screened, even if they haven't opened to the public.

Anybody know why NY critics moved up from the 12th? Next up, Golden Globe noms are announced on the 13th and then nothing until AMPAS mails out their ballots!

They didn't have to arrange their schedules around me. I would have caught up eventually.
