Post Best TV Shows of 2005-2006
Basically this a lot like the Best Movies of 2005 thread except it is for the overall season of the television shows you watch. You must watch at least 1 new episode of each show in 2005-2006 season for it to count for the chart. You will update you chart basically every week because the overall grade with change based on how you thought an episode was. ex. A show could start the season with an A+, but end the season with a D+. It is all your opinions. Also, keep track of the episodes you have seen.

A+
Reunion [Episodes 1.1]
The O.C. [Episodes 3.1]

A

A-
Prison Break [Episodes 1.1]

B+

B
Wife Swap [Episodes 2.1]

So each show only has one everlasting and everchaning grade, or do we rate episode by episode? Doesn't matter for me much right now anyways so...:

A+

A-
Reunion [Episodes 1.1]

B+

B
The O.C. [Episodes 3.1]

B-

C+

C

There is no point of me keeping track of this because I won't be watching any new shows (1 at the most, possibly the Earl one).

And the ones that I will continue watching I obviously rate very high because, well I'm watching them... could I be more egotistic :)

LOL.
And I will be watching...

Nip/Tuck
Lost
Desperate Housewives
Grey's Anatomy (ehhh not so excited about it, but I love some of the characters)
Alias (it better deliver, this their last season!)

Hah... all abc and one FX...

I'll probably be watching House on and off if I'm ever home and have free time.

I don't know where you would place the season of Rescue Me that just wrapped. 2004-2005 or 2005-2006?

I think technically it's 2005-2006. If so... I think it's going to take ALOT and I mean ALOT! to top that... it should stand as the best show for this coming season for quite some time in my book!

Of the new shows I've seen so far, I'd peg Prison Break at about a C+ and Reunion at a C range. Not a big fan of either of them, so I'm not sure whether I'm going to continue with them.

Must everything be graded for people to communicate their feelings on something? I loathe lists/gradings.

I watched the season premiere of House, that was pretty damn good. I've heard good things about Bones' as well.

Rescue Me is a 2004-2005 season show.

LOL. If you want to get technical it is 2005-2006.
the first season is considered 2004-2005 according to the Emmys. So the season that finished yesterday is considered 2005-2006 according to the TV Arts and Science people!

Sorry to rain on your parade... no fox show can beat this!

The best premiere I've seen as of yet is Arrested Development's. Easily. I'd put Lost and Everybody Hates Chris right under that. Followed by The Office, which I even thought was a little better than My Name is Earl.

I didn't think Family Guy's premiere was anything special, but episode two was brilliant.

The Apprentice: Martha Stewart was pretty dull, and The Apprentice was same old same old. Some reality shows remain interesting and fresh season and season (The Amazing Race); The Apprentice isn't one of them.

Aside from its fresh take on the genre, I found How I Met Your Mother sorely disappointing, even bad.

I thought Kitchen Confidential had the potential to be an Arrested Development in a kitchen setting, but it was only marginally funny.

ER was another disappointment. Anchored by a seriously non-compelling storyline (Sam looking for her kid), I knew that by the time they were going this route is was going to be a letdown. The writers still seem to be able to pull out a few great episodes every season, though, so I guess I still have a little hope.

So I guess:

Great
Arrested Development
Everybody Hates Chris
Lost

Good
Family Guy
My Name is Earl
The Office

Almost there
Kitchen Confidential

Meh
The Apprentice
ER

Not so much
The Apprentice: Martha Stewart
How I Met Your Mother

I'll keep watching all of them, though (except for The Apprentices).

Arrested Development's season premiere was the best of the season easily. Lost is probably 2nd. My Name Is Earl was awesome, as was The Office. Still, I miss Scrubs  . Everybody Hates Chris was a great premiere. Haven't watched a show on UPN since Smackdown, way back when I was into wrestling. CSI was pretty lame following the Tarantino finale. They just went back to the old ways, I was quite dissapointed. Apprentice is shaping up to be nothing special this year. Surface was too stupid to continue watching. Bones was uber boring.

I think that's it. Fall Season in a single paragraph :-). Besides the ones I graded already, of course.

Well, let's see...

A
Prison Break - Consistently entertaining, gleefully far-fetched show
Killer Instinct (I hope the premiere isn't the only good ep. because it was a blast)
House (I love this show and am glad it's a hit; the best returning show on television)

A-
The OC - Inconsistent but still entertaining overall
Threshold - Fun, surprisingly violent and action-packed show
Criminal Minds - This and "Killer Instinct" are basically the same show but this one is a little too dreary at times and not as fun as KI.
Reunion - The premiere was very good but the second episode was derivative. I hope it gets better.
Nip/Tuck - A boundary-pushing show with great writing and performances.

B (No B+'s)
Bones - This show is admittedly formulaic and lacks the sense of humor of "Killer Instinct" (which I really wish had gotten "Bones" Tuesday timeslot). The performances are good though and it holds my interest.
Invasion - Decent show but nothing special either. It looks especially formulaic and otherwise indistinctive when you compare it to other shows.
Just Legal - Decent twist on the lawyer genre with good performances from the two leads.
Kitchen Confidential - Funny show that I fear won't have the ratings or the narrative momentum to stay on the air much longer than the already canned "Head Cases."

C+
My Name is Earl - Quirkily funny show that has good performances but is saddled with what would appear to be a one-joke premise.
Surface - I have lowered my initial grade upon seeing a repeat on the Sci-Fi channel. The show just doesn't hold up but I may continue to watch to see where it goes.
The War at Home - I know this show is widely hated by the critics but I didn't find it to be abominably dreadful, just painfully mediocre.

C
Ghost Whisperer - Dull premise saved from the dumpster by the adorable Jennifer Love Hewitt.
E-Ring - Boring bureacratic show that should have been much better considering its cast (Dennis Hopper and Benjamin Bratt).

F
Head Cases - A painfully unfunny show that was rightfully canned early. It never should have aired, at least not as a new Fall series. It would have made more sense as a mid-season replacement when the competition wouldn't be as fierce. Then again, it was so bad it might not have mattered when it aired.

Conclusion - I watch and like most everything Fox puts on ("Head Cases" excluded) and I've enjoyed the new crime dramas this season has to offer. Oh, and "House" rocks... well, you know the rest.

Frikkin' awesome
Arrested Development
Extras

Great
Everybody Hates Chris

Weeds

Almost there
Desperate Housewives

The premiere of Extras wasn't better than tonight's Arrested Development, but it's pretty much right up there with it.

Weeds has been pretty dang good.

I liked the Rome pilot, but everything I've seen since then has been kind of poo.
