 13 Going on 30
13 Going on 30 Quote: 13 Going on 30 (known as Suddenly 30 in Australia and Sugar and Spice in some markets) is a 2004 American romantic comedy fantasy film starring Jennifer Garner. It has a similar premise to the films Wish Upon a Star and Freaky Friday, in which girls' souls were swapped into different bodies, the classic short story, Rip Van Winkle, in which a young person falls asleep and wakes up many years later as an older person. Unlike the films Big, Vice Versa, and 14 Going on 30, in which boys are physically transformed into adult men while everyone else remains the same age, this film concerns a 13-year-old girl skipping 17 years of her life, and waking up as a successful magazine editor in the future. It was produced by Revolution Studios for Columbia Pictures. I really, really did not like this movie. A few laughs, but overall, mediocre. C

I wasn't a fan of it either... it was okay.. cute at times, a couple of laughs. Not a fan of Garner, so she didn't do much for me. I do like Mark Ruffalo, though, so he made the movie a little more enjoyable. It was a bit predictable, and I saw the ending coming from a mile away. Good for one viewing, but I wouldn't be able to watch it repeatedly.

Guess I'm the odd one out? It was good, but nothing beyond a derivative chick-flick. It had the "been-there-done-that" feeling to it, but at the same time was still enjoyable. 6.5/10 (B)

It was fine, up to the ending. They completely screwed it up. I actually forget how exactly, but it had to do with that pixy dust crap. It was like they went against what they tried to sell as their moral of the story. Only reason I'll buy it is to add to my Jennifer Garner collection.

As cute as it was warm and funny; it took all the cliches of a chick flick and warmed them up with a glimmering leading lady. One of the better chickflicks as of late [A-/B+]

Jennifer Garner alone elevated it above mediocrity that is this movie. It is incredibly clichéd, cheesy and entirely predictable from minute one. Nonetheless, Garner's charming and smile-inducing acting makes up for that. The laughs are few and far in-between, but the movie still manages to remain likeable despite all the flaws and thanks to the great lead.

I was expecting more. I remember when it came out I was expecting Mean Girls and 13 Going on 30 to be equal in enjoyment chick-flick style, wanted to see each equally. Mean Girls totally destroyed this movie.

This one didn't work for me. It was like TVmovie-lite with a string of tired cliches. And how does that weasly Mark Ruffalo keep getting cast in movies?
1 out of 5.

We've seen a movie like that a lot, but Jennifer Garner is sooo lovely, that the film manages to be a charmer after all. B-
