My list is all ordinary and doesn't include (m)any old movies, cause....I'm not old

Y Tu Mama Tambien
Abre Los Ojos (Open Your Eyes)
Lola Rentt (Run Lola Run)
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (won't attempt the translation :P)
La Vite e Bella (Life is Beautiful)
Amores Perros
Todo Sobre Mi Madre (All About My Mother)

That's all I can think of.

Ross, is motorcycle diaries that good?

Wide Range with these few. They're all very different, and each from a different country:

Shangai Triad
Black Cat, White Cat
Miracle in Milan
My Twentieth Century (will be hard to find so I don't know if you can see it)
Le Double Vie de Veronique

At a later time, I will gladly speak with you about each and every Fellini movie I have seen. I've left them out of this selection. For obvious reasons.

That was t.o.u.g.h.

I looked all those up, and they do look interesting. Unfortunately, only one is available in region 1 DVD (Shangai Triad). I'll have to poke around on ebay and see if I can find an import, or region free versions.

I'm really a newbie to the foreign film.

Spirited Away
Princess Mononoke
My Neighbor Totoro
Kiki's Delivery Service
Castle in the Sky (Miyazaki fanboy, no?)
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Battle Royale

Meh, really need to venture out on others.

I might be the only person on earth who didn't like Crouching Tiger. I just hated the 4 hour flashback in the middle.

Are you into Chinese-style martial arts at all? I've seen a few. Heroic Trio, Bride with White Hair, Enter the Dragon, etc, and I never got THAT into them. You may like the Japanese approach better, or you may not like it at all? CTHD was excellent for its genre, but if you're not to keen on the genre (as I am not) than it really isn't going to do anything special for you.

I liked Enter the Dragon, but I don't believe I've seen any other Chinese martial art movies besides those two. So I'm 1 for 1.

Anyhow, I usually like action and martial arts. I don't mind when they have a lot of plot. I just thought CTHD was really slow with no real purpose at times. Perhaps thats one I'll have to give another chance someday as I only saw it once in the theater. Sometimes I misjudge a movie the first time.

This definitely makes up for you not liking the greatest foreign film ever (Run Lola Run).

Hehe, good! Actually because I didn't like CTHD that much, I decided to skip on Hero even though it has been getting splendid reviews.

Uhh, you don't consider it foreign? Why exactly if I may ask? It was directed, written and produced by Italians. It was filmed in Italy and Spain. It has an Italian title (Il Buono, il brutto, il cattivo.) It was financed by Italian, Spanish and German companies. The music was composed by an Italian. There wasn't even a single American that worked on the film except for the actors!

Yes.

Plus its being incorporated into my Italian film festival, so it MUST be foreign.

Hi Shad! Like what you see? Sign up to one of the festival, start one for a yet uncovered country, whatever suites your fancy.

Thanks. Maybe I will start one of my own when I have the time. I'd start one for Sweden, I just loooove Ingmar Bergman :)

 I have been begging someone to start a swedish and/or scandanavian film festival thread. i was literally contemplating attacking Dan Raedts from my past conversations with him, but this is much better. The festival starts today and runs through next sunday, so feel free to pm with any questions, but its pretty self explanatory from the other threads. BTW, if you check out the flyer I made (posted in the festival announcements, one of the seven images on the montage is seventh seal.

excellent!

with the exception of the leads, Italian, hence the very pippi longstocking-esque bad dubbing.

Tie between CTHD and Rashomon.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the Passion of the Christ yet.

This is a difficult one for me, cause I've seen so many foreign films.
But I prefer in most cases Italian and French films. Esecpially the ones from the sixties and seventies!

Good, to see a foreign films forum!

BMP.

There are several posters in these forums that are going to be very excited about that last response. Check out one of the threads down near the bottom of the forum.
